Thanks John, thanks Legacy. That article just seemed to manipulate the numbers to support its thesis a bit too much for my liking. Considering the schedule the two teams have played, I would have to admit if anything, LSU is being underrated. A lot of PSU fans are not happy about the soft schedule, it seems that a lot of it has to do with home game revenue. We do have Alabama at home next season. The chemistry of every game is unique, and it's very difficult to make broad, sweeping generalizations from a W or L in a particular column. I'm sure your Tigers will give PSU everything they can handle. I sure hope the condition of the field doesn't play a role either, for either side.
I hope you are right, but if you look at the year-end stats they have a better offense and a better defense than LSU.
Anyone minimizing the talent, potential and power of EITHER LSU or PSU isn't very well informed. Should be a great game. I still think the Tigers win by 10 but won't be surprised by a very close and exciting game. (btw, Mark May just picked LSU on ESPN halftime show.)
I'm sure people will point out that PSU's stats are inflated against a softer schedule, so I'll beat them to the punch on that account. The loss to Iowa was tough, it was a very winnable game for PSU that came down to a few plays. The loss to OSU on the other hand was an ugly performance. Paterno believes in execution. I think he would rather run half a dozen plays perfectly than have his team run two dozen plays in mediocre fashion. Few penalties, few turnovers, wait for your opponent to make a mistake and capitalize on it. Makes for a lot of nervous viewing during the regular season. Speaking of which, how penalized have the Tigers been this season?
look, y'all may have all the southern speed, but the Big Ten has the market on poor officiating cornered! Would be the makings of a great thread. How many LSU fans can list officials names by heart? They were the first conference to start play reviews for a reason. Glad to see we're not the only conference with officials that need to take a sabaticle to "re-evaluate why they need be officials."
