so basically we traded LF for pam ward and a half an hour earlier on kickoffs.

at least with JP/LF you could refuse a morning start (i.e. LSU only had to do a home LF game once every two years) i bet you we won't be able to turn down the worldwide leader if they come a callin for a an 11 am cst start.

i think this is worse from a tailgating stand point. is it worse???

someone convince me its not worse!

I don't really see this as good news for people who like to watch SEC football. My guess is that it will result in less SEC being broadcast, as the early game will probably be gone most weeks. All the games will be available at least on pay-per-view, which I suppose is nice, but for those of us who aren't interested in shelling out extra, it probably means we're down to being able to see only 2 SEC games per week for the most part.

no, they didn't pay $155 mil PER YEAR for only 2 games a week.
At that price tag, they are going to have the SEC on as often as humanly possible. The rest of the country is going to get sick of seeing and hearing about the entire confederacy once this deal gets started.

Games will be on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN360, you name it. And I wouldn't worry about those 11:00 am games, that'll be reserved for the bottom feeders, just like LF/JP was.
On weekend that CBS does not pick us up, we'll be on in primetime. ESPN knows that we bring the ratings, and all of their analysts and commentators WANT to do night games in Death Valley. This new TV deal could be GREAT for LSU.

Oh, they'll broadcast all the games, but if they can make more money by putting it on PPV rather than putting it on a national broadcast, that's what they'll do. Imagine a late-season matchup between Florida and MSU. It's the sort of thing that might normally be on JP, but ESPN has a choice of putting it on ESPNU at 11:30am, or of putting it on PPV and getting all the gator fans to shell out $10 to see it. My guess is they'll ask for the money.

The contract ONLY requires them to broadcast 20 games per year. After that, if PPV makes them more money, that's what they'll use.
