Glenn Guilbeau eats crow His blog after the game: BATON ROUGE -- Oops. Double oops. I am truly sorry for picking Virginia Tech to beat LSU Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. I have eaten crow before. I thought Aaron Brooks was good. I have learned with a little Tabasco, it's not bad. I picked LSU to lose one game this season, and I thought this one would be it. I was wrong big time. I did not do it to be different. I really thought it would be a close game. If it's a close game, anything can happen. Oh, well. Not to make up for this indiscretion, but because it is deserving, I will vote LSU No. 1 in the nation in the Associated Press poll on Sunday. I had the Tigers fifth. We do not know how good Virginia Tech is. It might end up being a bad team, but that doesn't matter. LSU has clearly been the most impressive team in the nation so far. And the rest of the nation's voters should realize that as well. The Tigers beat the dog out of a top 10 team. Look out, it's going to be that kind of year.
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow I could basically write the same thing this morning. I knew the LSU team was good, and now I wonder if Va. Tech is as bad as they looked.
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow VaTech might have some questions and growing pains to work through - it seems like their freshman QB might be taking over. We shouldn't let this win go to our head, there are still some quality opponents on the schedule and it is possible Virginia Tech isn't as good early in the season as assumed. But based on opinion I think I'd have LSU #1. I'm curious what my computer rankings would say, but I don't have the time for that right now.
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow VT is THAT BAD offensively. Glennon was totally inept. Without a QB, offenses flounder. What we did learn is that our offense is legitimately GOOD. Flynn went a long way to proving he is a solid field marshall. LaFell looked like a solid starter. Hester is having his best season, and Keiland Williams is the real deal. That answered the big questions at QB, receiver and RB. We are solid on offense, defense and special teams. That said, our defensive stats are skewed and they look great, but we have played two poor poor poor offenses. The press will hype crap out of this, but we must realize it doesn't mean anything other than we can shut down bad offenses. It does not mean we can shut down a good offense. Based on what I see, I'd vote us #1, but we are beatable, and a quality offense can move the ball on us. That' my take. We need to show up ready to play. SC, Auburn, Bama, Fla., Arky, all have shots at us.
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow It will be interesting to see what GG says in his Gannett article. I bet he still finds someway to bash the Tigers. But if we keep winning, none of the retarded comments by GG, Finescum, jimmy ott, Herbsteit, or any of the bashers will matter.
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow I never had a question about Flynn. In fact, thought he was under-appreciated by a lot of the fans who follow college football. I knew Hester was good. That being said, the only thought I had on Keiland were the comments tiga had made about him. I trusted his opinion on the LSU players before last night; now more so than ever. It'll be interesting to see how the votes play out this weekend. I can't say I think that you'll top USC in the polls, but that's not because I feel that way...it's because I doubt those who have votes will be persuaded to not vote USC #1. With 5 teams in the top 25 losing, and two others barely scraping by, it'll be interesting to see how the polls look Monday afternoon. I'm sure we'll see SC bumped up quite a bit...but, along the lines of your comments on Va. Tech, is it that they are good, or UGA was just that bad?
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow Look I don't by this "they might not have be as good as previously thought" line. Their defense was supposed to be better than ours. They had the #1 defense last year with most of their defensive starter returning. I think it says more about how good our team is rather than how bad theirs is. More than likely they will win the ACC. Does anyone else see a pattern here. OU, MU, ND, and now VT all got busted by us. The first thing out of every haters mouth is our oppenent was over rated and we're not that good. I think it is true in some cases but I think we are under rated more times than not. Even though we finished #3 last season, we should have been #2. Now Dildeaux wants on the bandwagon lol Moron! :dis:
Re: Glenn Guilbeau eats crow I agree completly, to borrow from the Saints if the team takes the"EARN IT" approach, one day, one game at a time, it will be hard to beat!!!!!
