We are LSU fans here, and Matt Flynn is LSU's starting QB, so it comes with the territory. Deal with it, or find another board to stir the pot in. Once again, you have offered nothing to support your claim. So was Matt Flynn. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=189 Sorry if I sound like a jackass, but I totally am, and you are the one disparaging our QB after a 45-0 victory, first game, in the rain, on the road, in a loud stadium vs. an SEC team, while offering nothing other than gut feelings as your rationale.
FWIW....not hatin' on Flynn...I'm on board with him. Let's just say I feel a LOT better knowing that...if he can STAY OUTTA TROUBLE!!!...RP will be MORE than capable of running this offense for the next two years. Say what you will, but he looked WAY more composed last night than Flynn. You can say Flynn had first game butterflies, or whatever...but I'd submit that Perrilloux had a thing or two to prove last night, too...and he did it, IMHO. And, although I didn't have the best seats in the house...I did have a bird's eye view...and Flynn missed a lot of open receivers. Fortunately, he was able to run for positive yardage when he did...but I'm telling you...he missed some guys. The designed QB runs is what I wasn't impressed with from as far as he goes. Hopefully, you guys are right, and we'll see a different plan next week. But I can't really disagree with Speedy just yet.
Don't get me wrong either. RP is the real deal and I can't wait to see him start. But I trust the judgement and experience of Flynn until he shows otherwise.
Last night was the first time I saw RP come in and NOT throw the ball in the dirt. He did look better than the last times he got the nod. With that said, there is a LONG haul from mop up to starter especially in the SEC. I don't want to see duel qb's this year but I want to know we have a back up who can come in and execute the game plan. Whatever it takes to get him ready and whatever it takes to win is what I'm for. Flynn didn't sit the bench for 4 years and not learn how to win. I know this is going to be an issue around here this year but I'm sticking with Flynn as our #1 QB. Thats just my humble opinion.:helmet: :helmet:
As do I...I haven't seen enough of Perrilloux to say otherwise. But let's just say I was pleasantly surprised at his performance. Flynn did make that one CRAZY throw on the out that should've been a pick 6...he needs to not make that throw anymore! That looks like the same pass he got picked off last year in mop up duty against ???. Hell be fine, though...I am sure they'll make any necessary adjustments before next week. I think folks are just nervous about the fact that we don't have a pansy to practice against next week...it's game time.:thumb:
What a great place for LSU football to be. So much talent that we can all debate who should start and who should not. I kept looking at those poor depressed MSU fans that were falling asleep in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I'm happy where we are and the direction the coaching staff is leading our team. Bring on VT. We are truly blessed to be where we are.
everything i have read and heard is that the team sees mf as their leader and has great confidence in him. that also counts for something. you cannot go changing qb's over a slow start to the first game of the season and needing to make adjustments. i don't think we are talking about just his ability to make plays or not, but the overall chemistry of the team. so even as impressive, rp needs to do back up duty and get more experience as not only a player, but to become a leader.
