It's hard to argue that between USC and ourselves there has never been a finer assemblage of talent, but that has only been in the last 5 years. Before that, we were a larger blip on a radar that noticed neither one of us (hence OSU).

I would say that we have more talent over that period but have had some trying circumstances that prevented us from truly living up to our potential, but I'm not one for excuses.

Besides, our mascot just died. Sympathy, you will give us.

I'd put Miami over OSU even with the bowl win because their 2001 team was just so good that it makes up for anything else that could happen in a span of a decade. OU was nigh-unbeatable in 2003 (whoops, maybe not the greatest offense ever) and like Miami has fallen- but barely. I'd put them top 5, easy. Anyways, Cowherd had a hard job because the landscape of the game changed halfway through the last decade with old powers re-emerging and such. A half-decade would have been a MUCH easier job (and I would have put USC number one!:O)

Ok, so here's my list from 97-07
    1. LSU (P&G glasses)
    2. USC
    3. UF
    4. Miami
    5. OU
    6. Auburn
    7. UF
    8. OSU
    9. Michigan
    10. TCU

I'd have to research it but I find it very hard to believe we are the best team of the last decade. Are you sure he didn't say of this decade, being from 2000 to 2007 versus 1997 to 2007?

4-7 in 98 and 3-8 in 99 according to Wikipedia. He must of meant since 2000

He was factoring in the last decade (97-07). He debated Ivan Miasel and some other guy. Miasel had LSU at 6ish. The other guy had LSU just outside the top ten at 11. They both brought up the Late 90s records. Of course both of them claimed that Miles hasn't maintained the level Saban reached. :dis:

Definitely. USC was a sub .500 team in 2000 and was 6-6 in 2001. They were 70-19 since 2000, we are 70-20 so pretty close in a tougher conference. OSU is 69-18 so I guess the argument really is valid. Just never really thought about how hard it is to consistently win a lot of games.

I hope bitter has been listening. I loved the line about ND should schedule the Coast Guard. Classic!

Didn't you know they've changed their focus from winning NC's to total domination of the Commander in Chief trophy.
