just started thinking about this because of the other thread, but here's my question:

a lot of you are wanting perrilloux to play or at least split time, but what are you expecting him to do that flynn can't?

the fact is that flynn will start barring an injury, but i want to know what you all expect perrilloux to do if he's the starter.

Whoever puts up the best showing in practice will be the starter. Nothing has been decided.

i want the best and most prepared qb to start. right now i think that's mf. if he gets injured or slumps, i see no problem with rp being a more than capable backup.

We haven't seen enough of either quarterback. We need to see them play or we are just guessing.

Forget about the Flynn vs Perrilloux thing. Im pretty sure any QB recruited by LSU is damn good, im sure every QB recruited by LSU has all the physical attributes of size, power, arm strength, accuracy, etc..
But one thing that you have to worry about that we DONT know is who has the bigger heart? Russell had the heart for it, winning games with last drives, that is what we want.. We want a QB who will not crack up in the game (like Russell throwing 3 INTs then coming back to win while converting on a 4th down), I want a QB who is cool under pressure, a guy who will step up as a leader when his teammates need him, a guy who will be successful in converting 3rd and 4th downs, a guy who has good work ethics, a role model, a guy who will go that inch with his teammates. That is what LSU needs. If we find this in one of them, then I guess that is who we need, and that is who deserves being OUR QB.
Now let me get this straight guys, no ONE is proven. Even winning a bowl in a blowout is unproven. We havent seen any of them going through the difficult moments, and I will be glad to see it in Flynn who will deserve to START the season on the sole justifications of being a 5th year senior, having some experience and finally, being loyal to his school. (living in the shadow of Russell for most his years). If Flynn EARNS it in his TOUGH games, he starts, if not, give me some Perrilloux so I can try.

They will both be learning a new system, so I guess the one that grasps the system the fastest will be the starter.

    Repost from other thread:

I agree that Flynn will be the starter for many reasons. Flynn might be a tad bit faster but I hear RP has more agility and big play ability. RP does have a slightly stronger arm and is deadly with the 30 yard strikes. Give him another year learning the offense and some reps during the season and he will be an explosive QB for 2 years with the tiger offensive weapons.

Flynn is better with the touch passes and is very accurate all around. Flynn also has the JR quality of buying time in the pocket but keeping his shoulders sqare at the target WR. He is more of a north and south runner with busted plays and therefore allows him to get more yards when he find the right hole.

I hope we use them both in games with different offensive looks depending on the situation. I assume we will see them both in on the same play a few times to throw off the defense.

If Lee catches on like we expect and gains valuable lessons from the 2 QBs in front of him we wont have to worry about our QB play for many years.

RP probably is more gifted physically but he's never started or playd any legit playing time. Its tough for a redshirt sophomore to jump into the starting role and excel right away. Flynn's been through his hiccups already. He's ready right now and not to take anything away from RP, but its likely that he will struggle just as JR did his freshman year. Flynn's just the best suited to lead us right now in my opinion, he hasn't done anything to prove otherwise. Hopefully this is just a moot point and Flynn has a great season and RP leads us next year.

This is a good problem to have, IMHO. I agree that it will likely be Flynn, but I would hope that in some blowouts, RP would get some serious reps, maybe even start the second half, assuming we're up by three or four touchdowns at the time. I know that's assuming a lot, but we do play Toolame, MSU, and LA Tech, and of course, ALABAMA!

I think PT is a HUGE factor. Flynn gets the starting job unless he is injured. has been with the team for a couple of years. He knows the guys and I think they trust under center. Not saying they wouldn't trust RP, but Flynn has been here a while.
