Is it really a CERTAINTY that Miles would leave LSU for Michigan if Carr left...

It's naive to think Miles would not be interested when the Michigan job comes open. And if he continues to have success here, they will come after him pretty hard. It would be difficult for Miles to say no to his alma mater.

We probably have at least 2-3 years before we really have to worry about it. I wish Michigan much success in the coming years and hope Carr wants to coach many more years!:D

Aint that the truth. I see nothing wrong with the original post. I don't see it as anyone trying to stir up the sh**. Yet there are a number of people that love to sit and wait for something to pounce on. Just put on your kevlar underpants and get ready ...

And as far as the topic of discussion ... I don't think Miles leaves. I think LSU and the state are in his blood now and if he continues to have success I don't see why he would go. Look in his eyes, he loves where he is right now.

That's one way to set yourself up for a major disappointment.:yelwink2:

Seriously, his first love is Michigan. You could see that we he talked about the possibility of playing them in the Rose Bowl. You saw it when he talked about Bo when he died. That will never change and I can't fault the guy.

Too many unknowns at this point to know what will happen, but I won't fool myself into thinking he'll pass up the Michigan job just b/c he is happy here.

    1. It is not a CERTAINTY that Miles will leave for a potential Michigan job, but it is a PROBABILITY.

    2. Les would probably love to coach at his alma mater IF they offer him a job and IF the money is right and IF he doesn't have a better thing going here.

    3. If and when the Michigan job comes open, NICK will covet it more than LES will.

The expectations in yankee country are not as high and the pressure must be lower as well.

Not saying you were ever one ot bash him (Miles) because I've never rememberd reading anything you've written doing so, but it's funny how so many people now are worrying about Miles leaving when the majority of the LSU faithful wanted him gone after the Tennessee game in '05...

Anyways, back to the question: No. I don't see him leaving for Michigan. Unless I'm proven otherwise by Miles, I remember him saying upon arriving in Baton Rouge something along the lines of his wife liking the warm weather because she wasn't fond of the cold. So, unless that's in "Saban-form" only to make it sound like he wanted to stay only to eventually bolt, then I'm going to take his original comments as that he's happy here.

And as long as he's representing LSU the way he has been, and receiving our full support as a fan base, then he'll remain happy here and not want to leave.

But just like anyone else in their line of work, when it becomes a situation where his "supporters" turn on him for no reason (similar to after the Tenn. game of '05) and without valid reason, want him gone (similar to his first year and a half here), then it's possible that he may leave.

When the job comes open at Michigan, I sure they will look at Miles and Miles will look back. Miles has done nothing but increase his stature while at LSU.

As saban has found out, and as Miles surely sees, there aren't many, if any, better jobs out there. And the old home school may not be one worth going after.
