This has been stated many times at this forum. We shouldn't go through this all over again. Many of us don't like the lies and the way he left LSU and Miami. 1)I'm have no interest in the Dolphin job. 2)I'm not gonna be the next coach at Alabama. Exactly, he would love to be back at LSU because recruiting the same type of kids at Bama is going to be quite difficult because you have to compete with Auburn not to mention his ego has taken quite a hit from his lies. I think he would've lost his job next year and thats why he bailed and left Miami hanging with 23 assistant coaches. I think you guys could've got him for cheaper also if you kept Shula one more year however maybe Shula would've stayed because Bama might have made a January Bowl game. Looks like the Honeymoon is just about over already with these kind of articles, faster than I thought!
Bama, I think am in the majority when I say I am tired of the Saban threads. Unfortunately, I don't think it is ever going to go away even after the game, just like mac said a few posts up. I hate to keep adding to the pile, but hey everyone else has posted on Saban, it’s my turn! I never even thought about the Spurrier comparison, but I would love to be able to go back and see how Florida's fans reacted. It probably isn't near the uproar we have in Tiger Fan Land, but I guess it is all in the details. Spurrier didn't lie, and he didn't have a record for being a sleaze (Not like Saban's anyway). He also didn't go to a rival program, not one that is hated as much as Bama anyway. I hope it will die down soon, but personally, I am over it. Now that the "I am really pissed" mode has calmed down, I think it will be ok; at the very least, the SEC became even stronger, which is scary. While he and Tubbervile cut each others throats for recruits and everything else, LSU will sit back and reap the benefits of being the only major school in LA. Sure there is more competition, and Saban is a hell of a recruiter, but CLM has held his own for two years now, and his strongest class is this years, the one that Saban was supposed. At the very least, the SEC became even stronger, which is scary. So....geaux to hell 'bama, and take Saban with you. After recruiting is done, Saban will only cross my mind when go into their stadium, whoop some ass, and he realizes that if had stayed at LSU, he would have a dynasty and an entire city worshiping the ground he walks on. Not to mention his reputation might be a bit more intact.
Since many fans (not just LSU) like to call Coach Saban "satan", this forum's name needs to be changed from the "Tiger's Den" to the "Devil's Den". It would make more sense for lurking visitors.
Had Saban been at LSU for only three weeks and put the same full-court press on a top prospect from Denham Springs, Alexandria or Houma, he almost assuredly would've gotten his man Tuesday. In-state pressure, in addition to Saban's charisma and tenacity, would've done the trick. I don't see this as being entirely true. Didn't Saban try to get a certain QB that was committed to Texas at one time?
I don't understand why my Bama brethren don't understand why you guys hate CNS so much. If fRan had bolted for another SEC school instead of aTm, I would have walked barefoot on broken glass all the way to New Orleans and found me a voodoo priest/priestess/practitioner and paid them a handsome sum to curse him. See, I really do understand.
Exactly. The strong reactions from LSU are due to multiple reasons: Saban going to an SEC WEST school like Bama is like a slap on the face, but the fans are also wary of Saban's competitiveness both on the field and with recruiting, which can suck. The reactions would have been much tamer had he gone to a different conference. His lies and personal flaws were a disappointment or letdown to his previous fans. This year he is handicapped with recruiting because of his short tenure and the bash from the national media. He would in be a better position with recruiting after settling in by next year (if he survives his 1st yr at Bama!)
I went to LSU in the 70's, but I live in Birmingham now. My brother played for Cholly Mac back when Bert Jones, Cassanova, Cantrelle & company were there. I don't hate Saban at all, nor do I respect him. He did what he felt he needed to. So be it. The only thing that really matters is that we kick his a$$ every single time he gets around us!
