1. i thought it was in his bank account. :hihi:

but seriously, i do agree with red. nick has no allegiance to lsu.
  2. Saban's Brand is a mess. Some of us have taken opportunities that pay more money and have regretted it. It's very hard to recreate success because it is so hard to have it on the level as Saban had it at LSU. He was well respected here and I believe should have stayed. His first move to leave for money was a disaster. Now his second move for money is rocky. National successful people crave positive sound bites. NS created one of the most popular negative sound bites this century in sports that will live on for a very long time, "I will not be the coach at Alabama" This joins the one we already know, "I did not have sex with that women" ESPN will play this clip forever and it will always show up when someone lies. This will haunt him forever.

Just think about this. After hurricane Katrina our part of the country was broken. If NS would have stayed he would have been a big part of that story continuing to build his stature as a great leader of our state. Because he went after money he missed out on helping with the recovery effort. I truly believe he knows this. The ESPN interview backs this up. NS was very uncomfortable, as he tried to turn the mess around. His attempt at blaming Jimmy Sexton, his agent, for talking him into listening to Alabama is typical Saban. I can't imagine the negative undercurrent that exists in Alabama about him. A poll just taken in Alabama said 80% of Alabama fans agree Saban was a good hire as coach. 75% believe Saban is being paid too much $$. All this points to a powder keg situation in Alabama. I'm sure he regrets a lot of things. This is all making his job much, much harder. The real losers will be the kids who play for him if this experiment fails.

I'm so glad we have a stable program and coach. Coach Miles was the perfect coach for LSU at the right time. I'm amazed at what he endured his first year at LSU. What a strong and steady leadership hand he as. I have full confidence in the direction we are heading under Coach Miles leadership.

    Geaux Tigers!
  3. Someone should send Nick Saban a copy of "Heart of Darkness". This will prepare him for his visit to Tiger Stadium in '08. Otherwise the sudden awakening to that what has become "Nick Saban" (3rd person voice - never trust anyone who speaks of themselves in 3rd person) will simply be too overwhelming.

You know that man is dreading the trip. We all have images in our mind of what that game will be like. Somewhere into the third quarter is where he will have a breakdown.

  4. Ruston population 20,665

    Tuscaloosa population 81,358

not to similar, not even geographically similar.
  5. Dr. Phil in the house?:D
  6. Saban better do some awfully quick winning or they will quickly turn on him and wonder about yet another mistake. Saban set up LSU to be the program it is now. I am very grateful to him for this. But, not counting 2003, his seasons at LSU were good but not great...I am interested to see what he does. His recruiting is what really sets him apart. So, good luck to Nick, but I, for one, am done with him.
  7. Tuscaloosa is more like Lake Charles.
  8. Damning with faint praise, if I ever heard it!
  9. Anybody else catch it when they showed Saban with his fingers crossed behind his back? I think it was only for a brief second.
  10. JMO, but the coaching figurehead of today's era is "no more - no less" loyal to their employers than their employers are loyal to them. And, deep down, I don't think most fans of the sport find fault with those coaches that choose to pursue their particlular career path.

But a simple "no comment" would avoid the public miscues like that seen in the Saban example. And let's face it .... Saban knew what he was getting into .... his was a premeditated, calculated plan to fool his employer .... and that's what fans want no part of, IMHO.
