btw this would be the best case scenario as far as public image afaic, no shame in losing a coordinator to a HC position

With Fisher, it was the buyout in the contract offered that was the sticking point. He didn't want one, both schools did...so, instead of haggling over those details Bama moved on...

Good point and one I had forgotten. I still think it's a reach that Gailey gets the Dolphins job or any other NFL HC job thereby creating the opportunity.

I've said all along that a sideways move to be OC at another school is NOT the path to a head coach job for Jimbo. He deserves a head coach job this year and I hope the Georgia tech job is his. He would be a fool to accept an OC job at Bama, FSU, or anywhere that leashed him with a buyout. And Jimbo is no fool.

LSU pays him very well and will be a top-5 team next year with the talent and the schedule to make a national championship run. His players, running his familiar and successful offense. That's the kind of springboard that Jimbo needs. Not rebuilding Bama or FSU for three or four more years.

I figure Jimbo takes a head coaching job within a week . . . or he returns to LSU for another year.

Can we please stop getting ahead of ourselves on this Georgia Tech position? I can't think of a single knowledgeable person that would say Gailey is an even remotely likely NFL HC candidate.

Perhaps "even remotely likely" is a bit much. However, I still don't see any way they hire this guy. The Fins will essentially have their pick of the litter, and there's little reason to think Gailey is the best available.

Pick of the litter is a bit of a stretch too, who's out there that would move? Basically only inexperienced assistants and failed HCs are what they are left with - and Nick left the Dolphins in worse shape than he found them.

Huizenga has the pick of the available litter. Good f'ing Lord, how specific do I need to be? Take the list of known availables -- Rivera, Whisenhunt, Grimm, Mora, Cameron, Ron Turner. Add any possible other long shot guys (Parcells, Cowher) Now consider Gailey in that context.

Specific enough as to not sound like an idiot, given the other outlandish statement you already back tracked on in this thread.
