im glad you posted this steaming pile because I have many opinions and sometimes they are wrong. this gives me the chance to once again say I wished like hell urban meyer had become LSU's coach when st. nick **** on my xmas parade yet ND came calling where I was certain he would go.

then he ends up at UF which really bothered me because i was really impressed with his teams at utah. however, if you are honest with yourself, as I am, you would notice his teams look pretty pathetic most of the time on both sides of the ball even with leak, who he ruined, at the helm. While miles doesnt come across as a great orator by any stretch, he certainly has shown to be a class individual who the players leave it on the field for. he's shown to be a man of conviction and respect and a family man you'd be proud to have your son play for.

Of course winning is the determinant regardless of the quality of a man you are, so lets look at his record. 20-4? til you have facts to back your argument on his coaching, id suggest giving the man credit for what hes accomplished because if you cant do it now, you're just an idiot who's waiting til he does worse. Theres not a whole lot better he can do outside of winning the NC so I guess you will have your glory soon enough.

obviously you arent impressed with his coaching in spite of the winning. I think many fans share that sentiment to a degree but will wait and judge that as time goes on. Because right now, you've taken indirect shots at the coach whos going to the best bowl in the entire SEC after b2b 10 win seasons which has never happened in our school history.

so here we are, at one of the greatest times in LSU football history, with the coach, like him or not, who has the best record thru 24 games than any before him yet you somehow find an angle to turn this time to rejoice into a negative. how the phuck do you manage that?

this reminds me of the cheech and chong skit where one is pissing on the dudes in the trunk telling them its raining.

man, quit pissing on LSU's parade and take the time to smell the roses because you are bringing me down, debbie downer.

Well, I'm not totally sold that Saban was a totally great coach. He was a great recruiter and had a defensive mind that everyone loved (though it was subject to giving up big plays) and he knew how to handle the media. I was not overwhelmed with his offensive philosophy and his teams seemed to play down to the competition and lost some games they should not have.

As for Miles, I think his recruiting is just fine. He's got a defensive coach that has quite a different philosophy than Saban but it's working. His offense is a little conservative and predictable (just like Saban). He does need some work on his management during the game but his teams always seem up for the game. We blew out a lot of mediocre teams this year (save Ole Miss) that we might not have with Saban. So I'm satisfied. I would like to see the offense open up some more (I sit at in my chair and call many of their plays just from their formation) but he's still learning the SEC so I'm behind him. :thumb:

LSU is nearly unbeatable right now at home. That's a fact.

We own Alabama at their place more than anyone else in the SEC right now (well maybe Auburn can argue with that fact). That's our toughest contest on the road.

If JR goes, the next QB coming in will do quite well. I think it will be Flynn and he is gonna be a steady game manager, just like Matt Mauck was. The running game will be dominant next season. I think Miles will stress this all summer long. Come back this time next year when KW has 1400 yards rushing. He will be a terror on the opposing defenses.

Our only loss at home was to Tennessee last season in the last 2 years. And that was only because Miles mismanaged the game. He has since settled in and has gotten a lot better at not freaking out when it comes crunch time.

The schedule dictates this team does no worse than 2 losses, more than likely only 1. A 1 loss LSU, ranked in the top 5 to start the season, may be playing for pretty crystal trophy come next January. A win in the Rose Bowl this year will go a long way in supplanting this football program in the top tier in the country.

I am sorry but your judgement of Coach Miles is way off the mark. To say that Miles deserves little or no credit for the success LSU has had in the last two year is absolutely ridiculous. You seem to be one of those misguided people who believe coaches have nothing to do with the success of a program; its all the result of the players. You could not be more wrong and that attitude betrays a startling naivete. Yes, Miles has a lot of talent recruited by Saban, but it was Miles who was doing the coaching. He has also shown himself to be an outstanding recruiter, and we will begin to see the results of his recruiting ability in the next two years.

One thing I liked about Saban was his blitz packages. This is one area Miles could improve on. I would like to see the blitz used more.

I am torn about responding in this thread because I think Max makes a valid point about some of the fears of LSU fans about our coach Miles. It is valid to have an opinion that Miles is not a god coach, but it seems to hold less water with each passing victory. Some members of my own family are not Miles fans, and I have repeatedly asked them to just let the season play out and form an opinion at the end.

Yes, there are some questions about his use of the backs, mid-game adjustments, time management, etc. But I think a large part of the negative attitudes towards Miles, stems from pretty silly, personal attributes:
1)He sounds like he is going to spit up when he speaks
2)He looks like a trucker with his hat
3)He doesn't get excited with the refs
4)He has that stupid Madonna mike on(anyone remember the beginning of last year??)

I could go on and on and on. Few people will admit any of these things are the root of their problems with Miles, but it is sadly true. Go and ask the average LSU fan that claims they don't like him, and you will be depressed at the answers. Despite this traits, you just can't argue with his results. You may remember, Saban did not set the world on fire his last year(by our current standards) and I am pretty sure he was playing w/Saban talent.

And on that note...enough about the SABAN TALENT! Did anyone catch the names of two of the players that scored touchdowns vs Ark?? Pretty sure Saban never even heard of those guys, talked to them, much less recruited them. Of course, in two years these naysayers will merely say, Miles has only continued what Saban accomplished in recruiting so Miles won't get credit for that either. And Max? What regression in recruiting have we suffered exactly?? I'm looking and I don't see the drop off.

I realize that some people are just "the glass is 1/2 empty" sort of people and having concerns about the future of your team does not make you a bad fan, but geez, what does this frikin guy have to do to win these people over?? Win the next 4 SECG & NC??? You going to tell me that the coach is responsible only for our losses and not our wins?? Look at what he accomplished here man, we should be dancing in the streets at LSU's continued good fortune, not looking for the storm clouds on the horizon.

And if you want to know what Miles can do w/out talent, look at his records/accomplishments at Ok St before he came here.

I have wondered aloud at times over the last 2 years if Miles was the best guy, but the results don't lie. And it not just our win-loss record. Those kids take the field with fire in their belly, and they got the job done more often, against tougher odds, than any Saban team.

Try to enjoy the bowl game and hopefully a victory w/out crying about the future, when in reality for LSU fans, it's looking pretty bright.
