Look, I'm a big LSU fan. I just don't let it cloud my judgement. I thought Saban was a top five college coach and possibly the best coach in the country. And, I saw the evidence early on (the end of the first season and confirmed in the end of the third season). I wish I could say Miles was the best coach in the country. If that was the case, I think we would almost never lose a game while he is coach because we have as much talent as anybody except probably USC and Texas but as much as Ohio State, MI, FL, OK, etc. Am I bashing the Tigers by saying we have top five talent with an average SEC head coach and a top five defensive coordinator? If that is bashing, I guess I am. It is just how I judge what I see objectively. I know you get bashed for ever talking bad about an LSU coach unless he is about to get fired. I don't think calling someone an average SEC coach is an insult; it is just one man's opinion/honest assessment.
Keiland Williams and Al Wood... They came straight from Saban? The facilities Saban helped to build maybe, but they are Miles recruits. LSU is ranked 7th in overall recruiting class projected for next year.
So True! Im gonna stick with my original post on this thread and stay away from it... Maybe next summer when there isnt much else to talk about ill read it again.
Agree, our roster is loaded with top shelf recruits (Perrilloux, Cutrera, Scott, LaFell, Deas, Francois, Holiday, Black) to name a few.....and next year is looking great and can only be helped by what he accomplished this year and the Rose Bowl win that's coming. :thumb: This guy must have hit his head. If I was a "red" giver I'd be loading his ass up for that one.
Miles has just kept rolling what Saban began. I think recruiting has taken a small step back from its heights under Saban, but we are still a top 5 recruiting program under Miles. Saban took a top 25 recruiting program and made them a top 3 recruiting program. Building and maintaining like Saban did is the incredible feat. Just maintaining with a slight regression like Miles has done is a great and extremely important. We'll see if it continues. I sure hope so.
I feel the love. Why is it that posters only focus on the negative/critical points of the post and ignore all the positives? I bet a national audience would say I am looking at this through purple-and-gold colored glasses. I am not trying to stir the pot necessarily. When I think things that I think everyone will agree with, I don't start a thread on them because what would be the point. When I have an opinion that I think many will disagree with but I still think is true and will make for an interesting debate I start a thread on it. I don't think debating controversial opinions is stirring the pot. You know I was getting the same bashing a few years ago for my evaluation of Randall, but I notice in the ranking our past QBs thread that 99% of you agree with me in hindsight. You just can't say it at the time if it's the truth or you're considered an idiot or someone looking to stir the pot. Why do many of you want to bash people who point out possible negative things about the program? We are all LSU fans or we wouldn't spend our free time on LSU sites. It just seems to me that this site would be boring if your only allowed to start threads with news or positive analysis or purple-and-gold colored analysis.
I recognize that not everyone is sold on Miles but the more games he coaches, the harder he's making it for those to be critical. At this point in his career and this season, for anyone to be saying things with a negative slant raises an eyebrow. People are defending Shula for being fired for losing 6 games and Miles hasn't lost that many in two years......cmon. To question recruiting was the tell tale for sure. In his SECOND year, his recruits have already contributed and are a huge reason we are going to the Rose Bowl with 2 losses........people recognize our talent.
