1. 1 - Davey - I still have nightmares of the passing exhibition he and Josh Reed put on against Bama.
    2 - Russell - pure athlete
    3 - Mauck
4 - Booty - underachieved and just happened along at the wrong time at LSU
    5 - Randall
  2. I really did like Davey and Mauck as qb's at LSU but neither of them were mentioned as possible first round draft picks or went in the first round. JR may be a first round draft pick this year but a definite one if he comes back next year. That alone tells me he has been the best qb at LSU in recent memory. We will not truly miss him until he is gone...

  3. Same here. I know he can play other positions, but he certainly didnt have the look to do it.
  4. Wait a minute.....that's not what I said. I said he "Looked" like a QB (At least in what I perceive one to possess in physical stature, etc. I didn't say he didn't have the look to play anywhere else.......on the contrary, "The look" I am referring to is just an all-around, athletic type. He did have a lot of athleticism.

I'm not trying to be contrary, just wanted to be clear. :thumb:
  5. to many factors to compare the two. talking about their abilities as college qbs, not nfl potential.

davey had no D, so many games were lost because lsu was outscored.

dont forget youre comparing junior to senior, granted, however that at this point jr has more pt than davey.

the davey-reed connection. who knows what jr would have done with reed or davey with the current3 studs (i tend to think jr has a huge advantage). but i remember reed being great after the catch and especially coming back to underthrown balls (intentionally thrown???). not that jr is the king of the long pass.

bottom line. nfl potential means nothing to college success and too many lsu fans give jr credit for potential (size and armstrength). i think with davey or mauck or flynn with three years of pt, lsu would be no worse off---maybe better.
  6. 1. Whitey McChampion
    2. J-Rock
    3. Rohan Balboa
    4. Tennesee Titans backup linebacker
    5. John David's brother
  7. I think this list is very good. It's very close between Davey and Russell. Russell with slightly more maneurability in the pocket (as well as running with the ball), Davey more accurate and read defenses better. I gave the slight edge to Davey as well.
