So, how important are this weekend's games?

Obviously if UCLA upsets USC, that would mean USC goes to the Rose Bowl. Dandy Don seems to indicate that might mess up LSU's chances of also going to the Rose Bowl, but I don't see how. (Quote from Dandy Don: "The only thing that could deny LSU from playing in the Rose Bowl would be for UCLA to upset USC this coming Saturday."

What about the other games? Does it really matter to us whether West Virginia beats Rutgers?

Florida has no real chance of leapfrogging Michigan, even if USC loses and Florida blows out Arkansas, right?

If UCLA upsets USC, USC would still win the Pac 10, but be eliminated from the BCSCG.

The Pac 10 winner, unless they are in teh BCSCG gets an auto bid into the Rose to face teh BIG 10 winner unless they are in the BCSCG.

    No other games affect LSU.

Depends if the voters want to see an OSU/Michigan rematch for the title. Florida would have to destroy Ark for voters to think about moving them ahead of Michigan. Odds are extremely low for Florida getting into the title game, even if they blow out Ark.

I'm not really sure what Dandy Don is talking about....the USC/UCLA game has no bearing on LSU really. If USC happens to go down to UCLA, then Meeechigan will go play a rematch with Ohio State (which I think Michigan would win) and we would get USC in the Rose Bowl's dream matchup.

He must think Florida still has a shot at the Nat'l Title?
Thats the only way the Rose Bowl would opt for a USC vs Michigan Matchup.

But how would that affect LSU (other than changing who their opponent is in the Rose Bowl)?

I'll put it like this. Although I have my official LSU vs. Michigan thread going, I am a huge Bruins fan this weekend. Because a Bruins win means LSU would be playing USC instead of Michigan on Jan 1. Either way, I am VERY excited about the Rose Bowl!

If Florida somehow magically appeared in the NC game, USC and Michigan would play in the Rose and LSU would end up in the Sugar or Orange. In that scenario, I'd prefer the Sugar to rout ND, rather than play Wake Forest or GT.

Given our current ranking and liklihood that we will go to the Rose Bowl, it will be a relaxing day to watch football on Saturday. It will be cold here in Louisiana and thus we are preparing a seafood and a chicken and sausage gumbo for the SECCG. I understand it helps LSU's chances to go to the Rose for Floriday to win but I believe that Arkansas is going to win. This appears to be that only game that may have an impact on what bowl we go to. Likewise, while I would like to see UCLA upset USC, I believe USC will win the game.

Under that scenario, Florida would win the SEC, but would be ranked #2, and thus not go to the Sugar Bowl... interesting possibility, no matter how remote it is. I'd still prefer the Rose Bowl, obviously...
