1. In spite of it appearing that I'm going to be doing this every week, I just want to say a few things and maybe open up some discussion on a few topics:

First off, I'll reiterate what I said about our defense: unbelievable! These guys swarm to the ball and the gang-tackling was simply phenomenal. I haven't noticed many mistakes, and Zenon for Heisman--if he keeps piling those TDs up, why not?

RBs: AB is obviously back to 100% but the play time of Hester may be Miles' way of begging the contrary. I'll be shocked to see Hester get this much PT next week. Look for the majority of the reps being limited to AB, JV and KW.

OL: Wasn't too impressed, but wasn't too disappointed either... we got a decent push for the most part and we protected Russell, can't really ask for much more this early in the season.

QB/WRs: This is where I was utterly shocked...disappointed. Miles is probably saving the playbook for AU, but what the hell? I wasn't impressed with our offense. The "o" was a bit more balanced this week compared to last, but I expected to see more of our receivers. Again, I won't make judgement until next week since the coaches probably knew (rightfully) that they could trash Zona running an offense more conservative than the GOP, so in that aspect, I liked our running game.

Special teams: A complete 180 from last week, 'nuff said. No bobbled PRs is always a good thing. What was up with Colt David on the 21 yard FG in the 1st? I really thought that should have been a TD drive. Jimbo needs to do a better job making a statement on the opening drives.

Overall I'm liking what I'm seeing early from this team. Pelini's defense is sooooo frickin' tenacious I find myself forgetting who Nick Saban and Will Muschamp were... well let's not go THAT far.... yet.

Some overall things that I've noticed: This group of players seems to be gelling as a team, playing for the name on the side of the helmet rather than the one on the back of the jersey, with the exception of a little showboating early on--but it could be retribution for the whole "stomping" fiasco. I don't like when players do that "shake motion" after a big play. Just get up and walk away like you expected to make the play in the first place. I digress...

What do you guys think about our offensive "woes"? Are they by design to give AU a false-impression or is our offense really THAT far behind our defense? I'll go with the former...

I'll hang up and listen to your comments....
  2. I don't think we have offensive "woes" at all. We've been vanilla by design. This is Russell's year, and finally his receivers are catching the ball. Russell to Bowe this year will make us forget (almost) Davey to Reed.
  3. Well from the way it looked live and on the jumbotron it looked like we definately scored a TD on our first drive, the refs just didn't see it that way. I agree though we really need to get a TD on our first dirve of the game.
  4. There's no way you should disappointed in our QB/WR set up. Why show your hand if you don't have to? I think that's the same reason were not running Ally B. so much right now. Keep him protected and healed w/o risking anything in two winners to begin the season. Much less chance to risk injury.

But disappointed? What would our O have to do? Put up 60 in a game to satisfy people?
  5. Did we see the same game?

We hang 45 on the opposition two weeks in a row and you're disappointed :dis:

JR looked like All World early. He made some ill advised throws later on, but he seems to have a firmer grasp of the playbook than last year.

Bowe's lasik surgery appears to have made a ton of difference. Has he had a drop this year?

Let me give you a heads up. If you didn't like our O in the first two games you probably won't like it Saturday afternoon in what should be a defensive struggle :yelwink2:
  6. I think that as the season goes on we will see that Arizona did not have that bad of a defense but we may have that good of an offense:geauxtige
  7. I'm impressed with what LSU can accomplish, however I think we "took a step back" from last week's showing against USL. Like I said in the initial post, Jimbo is holding back for Auburn, and Hester is playing so we can fool Auburn into thinking he's not 100%, all of this I said in the initial post. What I meant by being disappointed was that LSU should have scored a TD on the first drive, which it did appear that we had scored a TD, but...

I thought that the WRs were under-utilized and that we used Hester way too much. Don't misunderstand me, I just thought that LSU should have used the first two games to get their offensive machine running. Auburn is going to be billed as a defensive struggle, but LSU is capable of taking control of this game. I don't believe that we have offensive "woes" i was just opening it up for discussion...
  8. I'll leave this alone for the most part because all of the inaccuracies that you pointed out can be remedied by rereading my post, but I am not disappointed in our offense at ALL... I just thought that they would have a little more to show against these two weak defenses. 45 points isn't the point I'm trying to make... LSU could have scored 31 points in a "better" fashion and that is point I'm trying to make. Jeez... AU needs to get here quick so we can find better things to disagree on.
  9. We won't see Keiland next week, we will see Scott I would suppose.
  10. That's what I think, start Vincent, see lots of Alley, little Hester. I don't think we see Scott if we are leading and the running game is going. If we get bogged down, and Jimbo thinks a change of pace will help, then maybe we see Scott. I just don't think Keiland has seen game conditions like at Auburn, not seen the field enough yet.
