The announcers were just talking about us being in danger of missing the playoffs. I think Ben even went so far as to say we needed to win 6 out of the last 8. Don't the playoffs start with 64 teams?

 

Yes but there are a lot of conference qualifiers just like in basketball. LSU might be better than the tournament champions of the MAC or SWAC or MEAC but those teams still make the field over a Power 5 bubble team. If LSU does get in they almost surely won't host a regional but will have to travel somewhere as a 2nd or 3rd seed.

 

Thanks. Hard to believe we wouldn't make a 64 team field. I think Ben projected 11 SEC teams making the tourney. That pretty much sums up what kind of year it has been.
