Bama was able to get heavy pressure with their front 3 and one LB all night long, which was a surprise to me. Bama was covering our 3 WR with 6 defenders most of the game, which made it very tough for either QB to be effective. JL started our shaky and I thought the coaches did a poor job of getting him a few "safe" passes to settle him down, like a RB in the flats, or a slip screen or something along those lines. Bama's defense stayed real tight betweent the ends all game long and I though we had an advantage getting to the edge. I don't mind if these are the two best teams at the end of the season if they play again. I think both teams will make some adjustments and I think we would have a game score in the mid 20's with both teams getting more offensive production.

That is my thought as well. Bama was defending only two aspects of the game against Lee ... the run, and the down field pass.

A few screens would have forced their secondary to multitask, which would have losened up the coverage a tad. It also would have kept the LBs honest, giving the run game a bit more chance.

Heck ... McCarron would not have had the success he had at passing in terms of yards if it were not for the screens to Richardson.

I agree. I also think Deangelo Peterson pointed out the obvious earlier in the week: he is a mismatch for Bama's LB's. He has a distinctive speed advantage. I thought we should have found a way to get him involved (actually, I think he should already have been involved more in our offense all season long. He is a mismatch for any teams LB's). Again, IF these two teams play again, I expect to see some offensive changes from both of them. However, LSU has to stay focused and be able to get by Arkansas and then UGA in the SECCG.

absolutely .... in the flats. It would have been no contest. Sure it would have only put up 5 or so yards, but two 5 yard plays equals a first down.

It would have forced the corners to play a tighter zone, freeing up RR on a one on one match with a safety, .. much better odds than double coverage.

It also would have neutralized Bama's pass rush. Quick passes don't depend on time. The "chip and slide" play Richardson was doing would have done major damage to Bama's D. That would have backed up the LBs, and given the QB more time to pass the longer balls.

But .. hey .. we won .. and we aren't the coaches. But if we meet them again in the NCG ... I don't think we win this one very easily. If not for some fantastic Defensive play in the first OT ... that game could have been lost easily.

But if it does go that way (a role reversal of JJ first and JL second), then you think CLM is a bigot??? Hmmm. I see it more of Miles thought that JJ was better last year and JL was a ticking time bomb and this year he thinks the same thing after the Bama game. Not a bigot, just doing what he thinks is right.

Unlike a lot of people last year when people got all over Miles for sticking with JJ, I won't think that Miles is a bigot or pig headed or wrong if he sticks with JL this year. I just happen to think that he won't stick with JL. Trust me, I remember what he did last year sticking with JJ and not letting Lee get the starts and I will use the same logic as I did last year (Miles is closer to the situation than we are and he thinks JJ is just better than JL). I think that Miles will start JJ because I think that he thinks it gives us a better chance to win just like last year and just like he did before the season.

I agree that Bama's D had a lot to do with Lee's performance, but sorry, that is who we play and who is to say we won't play them again (or someone else that can pressure Lee). Sorry, handling pressure from the D line is the QBs job and Lee struggled to do it against Bama and struggled the few times earlier in the season when it happened. The Bama dbs are a step quicker and can catch.

I've had enough of Bama. We don't win the important one if we play again. Those guys know they left some on the field and we used all we got. The Better team did not win, sorry to say. We do not have the offense to beat Bama unless we use Mett and he is not ready. If not for the bone head plays from Saban, missed field goals and McCarron melt down in the 4th and OT we loose. Yes our defense played well, but if there is a rematch they will see where they left it and take us to the woodshed. We do not have the qbs to score on their Defense. They get 10-17 on us game over.

Hopefully next year Mett will develop into what we want and this qb nightmare will be over. I am happy for JL and JJ playing this year and I think we may have enough to beat everyone else.......but not Bama.

I don't want bama again either but I won't say that the better team lost.

Jarrett is gonna be fine... He only faced the second best Defense in college football Saturday night. Luck would have had problems with the Tide... He will be his old self the rest of the way. I am a firm believer that watching film after a game makes a player see where he needs to improve... WK will probably wish Jarrett had a tremendous game so he could have a let down...

It was funny to me all week listening to the pundits pontificate about why LSU would lose to Bama. I am so glad that the game was close, that is a confidence builder in itself. Had they won by a decent margin I would be nervous. That will keep em honest.

The best thing about the game to me was Saban getting a part of his due. I think LSU can release him and move on now, this win was for Ft. Knox... He left a lot to be desired in quite a few calls.

The timely plays to me were the INT by Reid, the sack just before the field goal try in OT and Michael Ford's scat down the sideline. I told my son in Wisconsin just before the game that it would take some 1 on 1 tackles to keep Richardson one of if not the best college back in the nation from cuttin' up.

If Miles can keep em hungry and not let em get satisfied with the last game this will be a season to remember...

lets not forget that all the reasons you gave for bama losing is a part of football... the better team never loses, they find a way to win even when they are up against it... the better team's coach is not a pompous arse who over looked his opponent this time... the running games of both teams cover the qbs of both clubs...
