sounds like you had a good time.

sounds to me like the guy who shoved you got off light with spending a night in the pokey.

he never got to feel the wrath of cajun.

First off, did anyone see that horrible wreck on I59 near Butler Ala? The 18 wheeler was twisted around and had skid off the interstate... horrible.

Every time I go to Tuscaloosa, it is a great experience. Having family members that went to Alabama always make it a fun weekend. The only thing that was bad was the fact that trains kept stopping on the tracks and blocking intersections and roads for over 30 minutes at a time.
We started off Friday afternoon at Phil's, then made our way over to gallettes (which i heard had a cover charge that started at 10 and went all the way up to 40 late in the night)... fun time, probably 50/50 ratio of lsu to bama fans. Only witnessed one fight there, then headed over to the DKE house to visit with some buddies of mine... man, that new house of theirs is really nice, just across the street from the north end zone.
Tailgating saturday morning was a bust in my opinion, probably my fault though, because i got off to a late start and didn't really attempt to go to many tailgates.
The game was awesome... i sat in sec 422 row 9, north end zone above lsu band. They were pretty good seats, i could hear our band more than bama's, which was nice. The stadium was loudest after the punt return, but not as loud as Tiger Stadium. Their fans are too far away from the field (better view maybe, but can't retain sound as well) and, though it looks cool on tv, shaking a palm palm doesn't produce as much noise as one might think:thumb:. The only flaw with our seats was one high-pitched annoying female voice that sat directly behind me. Even the bama fans around me didn't appreciate her constant yelling and cheering along with bama's band (because it was hard to hear them so she was basically a solo artist). A great LSU fan behind me told jokes the whole game... well, the first quarter anyway, wish i could remember them now...
After the game it was back to the 'strip' for another great night...

As always, I give Tuscaloosa an A+ on the night life.

    LOL

My brother and I were talking about the Bama pom poms during the game. I guess it is an Alabama thing because we gave the AUbies a hard time about them at the game a couple weeks back. :hihi:

I sat in the student section. Yes I was "that guy" by himself in purple. (one of my pledge brothers real brother is a kappa sig there, so i was sitting with him). I was treated OK to good. Some of it might have been deserved, but most of it wasnt.

I will preface this, yes I was drunk, but not belligerent

Most of the bama fans around me, thought I was a great guy and very well behaved. I knew my place sitting in the visitors student section. Id cheer when the Tigers scored, but that was about it.

Well slowly, when bama got ahead, some people would start patting me on the back and stuff... etc. Fine fine, nothing too bad. But then Byrd scores the td to tie it up. I then pat some girl on the back. Thats it. Next thing I know a guy from a row below me goes and tells the cop that Im molesting her or something. Thank God, the cop just ignored him as a drunken idiot.

Throughout the game, I became friends with the frat guy to the right of me, and we were having a great time... patting each other on the back etc. When they scored he patted me, when we scored I patted him. Whatever, we were both drunk. We score the go-ahead td, and I pat him on the back. Next thing I know the guy who told the cops on me starts to yell at me and how to never touch that guy again. My new friend then charges at the guy yelling at me and tells him to never talk to me like that again that I wasnt doing anything.

The moral of the story is that, some people are cool, some arent. I realize that I was in the student section so most people were going to be drunken idiots.

Also, I didnt think the stadium was that loud. No where near as loud as Tiger Stadium after the USC score was announced.

Thanks for all the great posts. Sounds like an awesome weekend had by all. It's nice to hear all the positive reports compared to just a few skirmishes. The media tried to make it sound like we were going to come in and tear the town up. One article about how many jail cells they had waiting for Tiger Fans was pretty classless. I guess both Bama and Tiger Fans pretty much rose above the negative media hype to have a great college football experience. I'm glad we won for all our Tiger Fans. My worst experience for a road game what the last minute loss at Arkansas back in 2002 I think. I barely made it back to my car alive.

Sooner or later, you'll realize 90% of what comes from the AL.com links to different Alabama newspapers is pure bunk. A couple of years ago I studied the content of the papers wondering just where they were getting their story lines. Hand to God, you would find one writer in a city pen an article, then the next day see the same content, different wording in another city's publication.

Heck, I even had a situation where I wrote and editorial for the web site I used to be affiliated with only to find it in the newspaper two days later.

Their research basically involves surfing the web, finding something that intrigues them, and the next day it's printed. There are very, very few journalist now-a-day that have an original thought. I'd bet the jail story was picked up by surfing a few message forums and finding threads talking about it.

Most of the crap that happened this past weekend went down Thursday night. I mentioned to tiga over the weekend that you could split the TPD, UAPD, etc. in to two different sections. There are those that want to throw anyone, anytime in jail and others that are used to game day experiences and just want to make sure the fans have a good time and no one gets hurt...on both sides (as in fan bases.)

You get into Northport and it's everyone goes to jail.

Years ago you would have the police step in and escort people home. Thankfully, there are still a few cops like that around today.

My parents and friends made it to Meridian around 6pm Friday night and we went to the N.O. inspired restaurant for drinks and appetizers. LOTS of LSU fans there! I really think the only Bammer was my husband. The poor restaurant was in no-way prepared for all of the people in the bar area so we grabbed a bite to eat somewhere else.

Got to campus around noon Saturday with plenty of parking left. Walked down past the stadium and around the quad for a while before heading back to our tailgate for muffelatas. We hung out with HATT for a bit as well.
My Dad was wearing a "Got Nick?" shirt (The back read "Probably not for long just depends on the job offer." Well no-one was taking the time to read the back of the shirt and was giving him grief about it. He'd always respond "read the back."

Heard lots of "got 12?" "you're winning with Saban's players" and "les is going to meeechigan." No originality.

Around 3:30pm we walked over to the soccer stadium to watch the game on the big screen TV. We were shocked when we learned you could bring coolers into the soccer stadium to watch the game FOR FREE!!

We kept in touch with our friends in the stadium. She and her Dad got tickets in the middle of the BAMA fans and someone yelled something pretty vulgar at her. Well, of course, her Dad says something back and a few of the Bama fans tried to get them thrown out. No luck though.

Had a blast watching the game with all the Bama and LSU fans there. There had to be around 2k in the soccer stadium. My husband was beginning to think they might actually win and got loud.

Lots of very gracious fans after the game saying how they want us to win the NC game.

    My thoughts-
1.) LSU would make a killing charging $10 to park in grassy lots.
2.) LSU could also offer a place for people without tickets to watch the game.
3.) When we were there in 2005 I was impressed with the amount of facilities they had on hand. They had more then enough this time as well.
