I thought about posting this in the recruiting forum, but I figured it might garner more discussion here. Both guys made big jumps in the first update of the year. Howard is now up to #21 overall and #2 pro-style QB. Campbell up to #33 overall and #3 OT. Also Jacoby Matthews out of Ponchatoula made a huge jump up to #32 overall and #4 safety, and he is now a 5* as well. The last time there were 3 or more 5*s in Louisiana was 2014, when there were 4: Leonard Fournette, Cam Robinson, Speedy Noil, and Malachi Dupree. ETA - in Louisiana, whoops
Tons of players got bumps from the rivals update. Mathews, Aaron Anderson, AJ Johnson, Emery Jones, LaTerrance Welch, Marcus Scott. Jones is now a 4* and I believe he’s slated to commit next month. OL haul looking EXTRA spicy this year.
All 3 kids are well deserving though Jacoby may outgrow safety to linebacker. Campbell should be a day one OL starter. Walker is sensational. Matthews is incredibly athletic. Plays qb and mostly cb for his high school.
This is why I think the OL recruiting criticisms of 2021 were not well founded. We have our entire line back this year, and next year we should have some guys stepping up to start in Bradford, Thomas, Dumervil, and Dellinger. Add Campbell, and we’re looking pretty good. Cam Wire should also be back.
