I don't want another coach. Les Miles is a good one. A really good one. CLM is the coach I want. He's 4-0 in Bowls and against major teams. His record vs OOC opponents is terrific. He's won over 80% of his games. He's won a NC and an SEC Championship. He represents the school as well as anyone you could possibly hire to replace him. Let's rally behind this team and enjoy the ride. We must endure the ups and downs for the short term, because sooner or later we're going to make another run at a championship. If we can support these guys through this, we'll all be saying how wonderful CLM is down the road. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I think most are concerned even if they do not want to admit it. What does bother me is that some people would be fine with Miles even if we lose out from here..
I can understand and respect to stay loyal to your coach. I want Miles to be at LSU. I want this to work out. What concerns me is Im by no means a Saban backer. Its just I never really thought of Miles as that GREAT coach. He is a good coach though. The thing that has me worried is the team has not improved upon last seasons tailspin. If we would be playing better and still lose a few games Im fine by that. However we arent at all improving. Outside of the Peach Bowl game which appeared to be a spring board for this season being filled with optimism. Yet we cant even put together a full game against our easier opponents? No matter how good you look at it, thats not a good sign. Im all for giving Miles this year and next. He has earned his right to rectify the situation. I just want progress to show me his head is still in it. Its not necessarily about being firey in a visual, Saban way. Its about the enternal fire. Its about that quiet confidence, that sparkle in his eye. Its that balls out coach that takes chances. The Miles that weve seen the last two years isnt the same Miles that was a successful coach.
you can be concerned without pushing the red nuke button. just have faith that our coaching staff has it under control. if at the end of the year we drop 4 or 5 SEC games, then yeah, i think Miles would be really close to the hot seat, and if another year he had a losing SEC record, i would think he would be relieved of his duty. But that isn't going to happen, because all the things we know about this team, and whats going wrong, Les knows too. Have faith.
Again, I had faith last year that we would see a new team after we heard the speeches of how LSU would be a different team. After failing to improve last year its not easy. In Peach Bowl we finally seen the LSU team that we should have seen all year. So this season starts out with some enthusiasm build upon the Peach Bowl. Then all of a sudden we in a dog fight in 4 gimme games. We didnt get any young players PT like we should have. We didnt see any progress again this season, same as last year. So I think its time to see progress, not this regression week after week.
Time for Miles to move on is a little strong. We're not at that point, yet. Actually, I think it would be a mistake to fire Miles even if LSU has another season like last season. You don't want to be that place that fires coaches for getting to bowl games (see Nebraska). Now, do that 3 or 4 years in a row with top 5 recruiting classes, maybe. But not now. It would take a major meltdown for that to happen and I just don't see that. LSU figures out how to win 8 or 9 games this year and ends up in a second or third tier bowl, IMO.
