Guys and gals, what a year we had in 2017 for Tiger Baseball. Was truly a remarkable season. I was one of the people who, early on, though we lacked the depth to make a deep run in the post season. Boy was I wrong. We started off iffy in 2017 IMO, then started to lose some mid-weak games, then lost the UF series and A&M series. We then limped to the Kentucky series and lost that one. Then it started. From May 6th to the CWS on June 17, we lost 1 game. Our second loss was to a very good Pedophile team in Oregon St. I thought at this point we might of hit a brick wall when we lost Walker; who was having an amazing season. IN any-case, I think Paul did one helluva job getting that team as far as he did. Man, Gilbert was an amazing surprise. Zach Hess turned into a demon on the mound. Jesus Christ. I haven't seen anything like that in an LSU pitcher in my adult life. I am not too up-to-speed up on 2018 baseball yet, but this is a thread for that!
You know, I really do enjoy baseball season with LSU. The games are super fun to watch on the SECN. Baseball is just has a different tone then football.

So @tirk Do you think we have anyone that can fill the weekend slots and keep the Gas Master at his most deadly form? Or is the likely scenario turning him into a weekend starter? Walker is out for all of 2018 to my knowledge and I think Gilbert is likely a weekend starter. That leaves what, Bush, Reese, Peterson, Beck, Storz?
Unfortunately Hess will be Louis Coleman this year. Meaning he will be forced to be in the rotation out of necessity. Gilbert will likely be Friday starter to begin the season. It's uncertain if Hess can command his cutter or maintain effective velocity for 6 innings. It's clear to me he couldn't last year and Im not sold hes built for it. I think he eventually moves back to the pen and we have 2 freshman in the rotation. This year isn't a win it all season anyhow. That's next year. 3rd spot will be Fontenot, Labas or Sanders. Possibly Hilliard. Sanders looks like the favorite as the new shutdown guy because he's filthy so Fontenot probably gets the 3 spot. Mainieri really likes him. Im thinking Peterson gets spot-starts then ends up middle relief. Reports say he looked really good in the fall. Same with Bush but probably ends up the lefty specialist again. Storz is hurt. Fall surgery to clean up his shoulder has him out for now.
Man, that would be awesome if we have two freshman pitchers of sufficient quality for weekend starts. Or it might indicate we are just extremely young! I remember reading that about Storz, but I thought he would be back in action in time.
I live right by UNO's ball park. I go to a lot of their games because it is so convenient. Blake Dean is their coach. I usually sit near his mom and dad. If anyone lives in BR, I strongly suggest you go to some games. Mainieri always has his team getting better by the week. By postseason regionals and super regionals, LSU is usually humming. Baseball is always better in person.
Shake up in LSU's baseball coaching staff...Micah Gibbs had serious knee surgery which interferes with his ability to coach and is replaced by Sean Ochinko. Hope Mainieri doesn't crack flak for not having a national search...lol http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2018/01/lsu_baseball_coaching_staff.html#incart_river_mobile_home
