They have not signed a nationally ranked player this year according to today's Dallas Morning News, and all of their recruits are from Texas this year. They were not able to sign Texas' two biggest recruits (and the nation's) Rhett Bohmar and Adrian Peterson. Both have commited to rival OU.

The Texas recruiting juggernaut may be falling apart, Mack Brown might be gone after next year, and the Ole Ball coach has expressed much interest in the Texas position.......

Actually in a perverse sort of way, Spurrier at Texas sort of makes sense. In his eyes he conquered the SEC and probably would like nothing better than to move to another conference and do the same thing and make a boatload of money in the meantime. After taking a year off getting his tan together and nothing opens up in the SEC it would make sense for him to go after that job. If M. Brown's job really is on the line they will look to replace him with a proven winning head coach.

According to Insiders top 100 list in Texas, the shorthorns only have 1 commit in the top 10 at this time.

You have to think that Texas and Spurrier are a perfect fit: the job is big enough to fit Spurrier's ego and his ego is just right for the ego of the Texas. And they will be able to pony up the millions it will take to sign him.

I don't think Spurrier wants to work that hard...

My feeling was that he went to the NFL as sort of a semi retirement gig..... Besides..that whiny...someone peed in my face visor look won't play very well in Tejas...
