The Superdome would be a better comparison. I don't see why they can't rotate between the GA dome and the Superdome. One year for East teams and one year for West teams.
I'm pretty sure it seats more than the GA Dome too. The price you pay for guaranteed 70 degree rain free weather.
I say they tear down Legion Field, build UAB a nice on-campus stadium and build a 85K seat domed stadium where Legion Field used to sit, and move the SECCG back to Birmingham where it is supposed to be.
Water will be no problem. Georgia, Alabama and Tenn, have reched an agreement that will aleviate the problem, No way do you want the SECCG in B'ham. B'ham is my home town and, trust me, you don't want the SECCG there.
Nah, that wouldn't work. It would always be at Bryant-Denny. O.K. Now seriously, you would have to set the location before the season. If a team ends up with a home game, so be it. Some seasons, you don't know until the last week who wins the division. For logistical reasons, it would make more sense to know where the game is before that last weekend.
If you live in the B'ham area, you may be willing to give up 50% of your paycheck for this stadium. I most certainly am not. Rotations between Atlanta and NO sounds great to me.
They can take the Tulane travelers, mix em in with the UAB home crowd, and StarsofOrion can buy the remaining 60K tickets.
I think the problem with rotating it among the conference stadiums would be accomodating the large number of traveling fans. During the regular season you only have traveling fans from one side (and a small number at that--5,000-7,000), but for the SECCG there would need to be enough hotel rooms for tens of thousands of people from each fan base. For that reason Atlanta and New Orleans may be the only practical sites.
