Nice board fellas. I enjoy the perspective. I have a question and any help that can be provided would be appreciated. I've never been to N.O. and I plan to make the trip down for the game, but my little sis, who attends OSU, wants to make the trip as well, only problem is she doesn't turn 21 until March. My question is this, how do the bars in N.O. treat 18+ patrons? I know in Columbus these days, it is difficult to even get into most bars unless you are 21, but I have no idea what the norm is down there. My concern is I don't want to bring her along then not be able to go out and experience the city and its nightlife. Thanks for any help or advice. Indiana Buck
Some bars a VERY lenient. Some, if she's even just kinda cute, she won't even be carded. Others not much of a chance. Good thing about NOLA, is that much of the "night life" actually happens in the street outside the bars on Bourbon St., so no worries there.

Thanks for the quick feedback. I'm not worried about her being able to actually drink (she can deal with that aspect herself) as much as being able to gain admission to the various establishments. That was the reason I was inquiring as to whether you have to be 18 or 21 to get into the majority of bars. Since it sounds like the majority require 21 (with some exceptions) I will have to think about whether I want to allow her to tag along on the trip. Now, the only problem is getting through the next 27 days until we leave!!!
yeah basically what nootch said. you'll be able to get into some places but not all. but finding a place where you all will be able to have fun shouldn't be hard.
Trust me on this. You don't have to go into the bars to have fun. The best sights and sounds are outside. And like any other street in America, there is no age limit to that. You'll still be able to get your drinks, and walk around however you please with the open container. The streets will be packed with people, and lots of excitement going on. It sounds like this will be a once in a lifetime experience for her, and I'd hate to see her miss it.
Thanks for the advice. That sounds perfect. I know she's dying to go with us, so that situation should work out perfect for everyone. Just signed up for the board this morning to ask the question, but I look forward to discussing the game with you guys over the next month.
