Re: NEW BCS TOP 5! LSU #3

Guess why Oregon won't be 2nd, unless LSU gets beat. Preseason polls matter, SEC champion matters. Oregon wasn't even in the top 25 preseason. and once USC loses to Cal and ASU, there computer rank will suffer.

That's probably not true. Oregon is one crazy finish away from being undefeated (much like another team I know).

The Ducks also have a great passing attack and LSU's pass D is not that great. I'd much, much rather play Ohio State.

    BCS Poll Out

    The latest BCS Poll is out;

    1. Ohio St.
    2. LSU
    3. Oregon
    4. Kansas

Ya'll are looking good but watch out for Kansas if they go undefeated and win the Big 12 Championship.

I just don't see how our schedule strength is 13th with the amount of top 25 teams we have played.

I think we can all be assured of OSU's spot in the BCSNCG...unfortunately. Illinois is really and truly the last chance for someone to beat OSU. Michigan will not beat OSU, because Lloyd Carr cannot outcoach Jim Tressel, period (plus, look at what just happened to UM against MSU.)

If Kansas goes undefeated, which would have to include wins against Oklahoma State, Missouri, and very likely, Oklahoma....then they would most certainly jump LSU to be in the NCG. Even Missouri has a longshot chance to jump LSU if they also win out against KU and OU, especially dependent on computers.

I would say that KU (especially) or MU both have a better shot at jumping LSU than UO, simply because of that championship game which would likely be against OU.

It ain't over yet, folks, but we can hold on to our seats and try.

    Re: BCS Poll Out

We need karma, man I sure hope they lose somewhere the final weeks of the season, It might take OU to beat them.

Most of those teams haven't done very well this year even though they were ranked pretty high when we played them.
    Bama lost to Florida State
Auburn lost to South Florida and MSU
Kentucky lost to MSU not to mention Florida and USCE
    Florida lost to Auburn
USCE lost to Vandy, Tenn, Ark

The ONLY team that has helped us is Virgina Tech but they have a pretty weak football schedule.
Their only losses are to us and BC.
But then again BC lost to Florida State also.

Bottomline our SEC foes haven't really helped us much.

^yeah, the number 1 in terms of hardest strength is Washington...and if you look, I think you can see why.

    a few points-

anyone know how oregon is ranked lower in computers than LSU yet has a significantly higher sos with the same record?

the computers dont care how many top whatever ranked teams LSU has played/beaten. its the record of your opponents and your opponents opponents. not like 03 when the bcs included bonus points for top wins.

all the polls are flawed. they follow the rule of better record = higher ranking (but you may be shuffled around if you have a very good or very bad tradition). it has very little to do with what teams you beat/lose to. the best way to do this without a playoff is to form a small committee (like bball) to pick teams at the end.
