Re: Our Offense DING DING DING! if there was a lottery you'd win. this has been in the back of my mind since well I wont say when. I kind of hesitated to say it, voice it, think it..... because it all points back to..... gulp. and keep in mind that I love the guy...coaching.... there I said it. But how can you not like a guy that calls some of these gutsey calls and goes for it 5 times on 4th down and wins? :milesmic: and the last second pass to the end zone in the interview he acted like it was no biggie. You got to love a guy with nads that big. It's like a cowboy attitude, come what may, screw watching a film to prepare for next week?? but I swear the first qtr they play is more like Moe Larry and Curley not LS and U. However, I digress for if WE /THEY get this----> :crystal: I dont care how they did it. :thumb: :tigereye:  EDIT: Jay Post of the yr. I'd rep you but it wont let me.
It's very hard to figure out, but aside from the self inflicted issues (penalties, ect) I think there's some credence to the other team's gameplanning theory. I base this solely on how we play in the second half. It's obvious that the proper adjustments are being made which allow us to play better. All that aside, this IS a very hard team to figure out. None of our previous teams have had these issues, so I can't put the slow starts all on the coaches. At some point, the players have to play.
I think eventually our athleticism wins out and helps us distance ourselves (against teams like LaTech). We've been in no small part lucky to get these come from behind wins against teams better than LaTech, but I think in general our passing game is hit and miss and really makes our offense run far below optimal efficiency. I think you're right on this one. It doesn't seem like Crowton has been overly reliant on the passing game, though perhaps he shrinks away from the power running game a bit too often in favor of gimmicky plays. But then again, I'm not sure our offense has shown the capacity to maintain a power running game.
I think the points being brought up about Flynn are valid to the point of I think they are trying to hard to make him the star. I think and it has been said that Flynn is more of a field general then that star player. And yes with the stable of running backs we have we should be running the ball until someone stops us. Its sometimes as if Miles is out smarting himself, he is trying so hard to be deceptive that the team almost seems unable to follow his lead. I think he is a GREAT coach, I am glad he is our coach, but even Great coaches can out coach themself from time to time.
I love our team and our coach, but, my honest opinion is that we are not going to see this team hitting on all cylinders from opening whistle to final gun for the rest of this season. I don't know whether this will cost us a game or not. I simply believe that by this point in the season, teams have established their identities . . . and we have established that we are like a steamroller . . . we start slow, but, after we build up steam, we crush everything in our path. I don't mean to bash our players, coaches, team or any posters on this board, but . . . honestly . . . I don't believe that we'll see this team hitting on all cylinders from start to finish. Why not? I'd have to say that the basic reason is that our players are not mature men, but, rather college kids with rather immature minds and judgment . . . we are not talking about Special Forces Soldiers on a mission behind enemy lines here . . . college football players are clowns compared to elite Soldiers . . . well, maybe not CLOWNS, but . . . there's a BIG difference here. LSU! :crystal:
I dont think anyone was comparing them to soliders by any means. And eventhough these college players are kids this is their job. And while they do not recieve cash for playing some do get to go to school for free. I dont think with them being kids has anything to do with being ready to start a game. I do agree that this team is set in this way and we will not see a change, mannerism are hard to break once they set in. But I guess the question will be answered over time as to weither it is the coachs coaching style OR the players. I think if this is something that contuines into next year then the coaching and gameplanning needs to be looked at. With all our harder games being played on the road we are gonna have to come out playing from begining to end.
