And yes I know we won, so you can take your fingers off the keys if thats all you have to add. This is in all seriousiness, is it possible that on offense talentwise we are simply not as good as we all think we are? Or is it that we have no emotion at the begining at the game? This has happened in EVERY game this year, and against teams we should have killed it was worse, Tulane, and La Tech! A few times ok it happens, but it is to the point now that we might need a 12 step program to get rid of this monkey.
Re: Our Offense I do not know what it is with the team, I do believe that we are as good as we think we are. We have tons of talent. I would have thought that after Kentucky beat them, they would realize that they can be beat, but evidently they have not thought about that. LSU always overcomes sloppy play in the 1st half, but Ole Miss and Arkansas are gonna be ready to play, so I think that LSU better be ready too. :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux:
Re: Our Offense Our offense and certain players play is very inconsistent. We dont really have a strong point or identity do we run the ball and pound teams or do we slice em up with all our WRs and get a big lead then pound em with our collection of talented backs. Yes I know we won and A Win is A Win but we arent winning like we are suspose to.
Re: Our Offense Problem is, Miles doesn't let the best players play. He has a love affair with Fynn and Hester, yet Williams and Holiday average over 6 and 7 yards per carry. Hester is a great shortage back and a great talent overall, but his running skills are no where near as dangerous as Williams and Holliday. If you noticed, every game we had to claw back into was because of Big Plays made by Williams and Holliday, or Doucet. Flynn wont even get drafted probably. yet he is our Starting QB.
Re: Our Offense It all starts up front. La Tech did some things defensively in the beginning of the game that paid off early for them. Once things started to settle down a bit, LSU was able to take advantage of a "sell the house" defense.
Re: Our Offense this, to me is the most frustrating part. we don't seem to "establish" the run or "set up" play action, etc. i'm just a casual observer and don't have a coaching background, but sometimes it just seems there is no continuity on offense. sometimes it looks as if we're drawing 'em up in the dirt.
Re: Our Offense Yeah sorry I forgot to add these kind of comments with the win comments. These bring nothing to the table as for as constructive so to quote Rome, "Dont bring that JUNK"
Re: Our Offense To reiterate, it all starts up front. I do think we are as good talentwise as people perceive us to be, with the o-line being the exception. As far as the slow starts go, I don't have a good explanation for that, other than yes, we are 9-1 and it is because of the talent we do have at our skill positions that we have been able to overcome slow starts on offense.
Re: Our Offense I’ve seen the same and it is aggravating cause we’re used to owning the first quarter. Last year, going into the Sugar Bowl, we’d outscored opponents 129-20 in the first quarter. LSU outscored opponents 136-27 in the first quarter last year. We held 9 of our opponents to zero points in the 1st quarter. We’ve actually outscored our opponents 58-24 in the first quarter this year but in our “Big” games, UF- we were down 0-3; Ky- down 0-7; Au- tied 7-7. We do have the 14th ranked scoring offense and our red zone numbers are pretty good- excluding last night’s game here are the times in the red zone, times we scored, and the third column is # of TD’s. Example, Miss. St. 7 trips to the red zone, 7 scores, 6 TD’s. *Aug 30 at Mississippi State... W 45-0......7.....7.....6 *Sep 22 South Carolina......... They don't get rattled by not getting off to a quick start- do I like it? Neaux but I do like the end results.
