Sean Payton never wanted to draft LSU players when he was in Nola, but in Denver he'll take our coaches?
Loosing coaches who make a move to a higher coaching position is part of the game. But the timing sucks.
Actually it isn't that bad. The ink is dry on the class, new guy will have work to do but better than Cain moving before signing day and the class take a hit.
This might be interesting, if BK does a search. I really hope he does, rather than promoting within. Couple interesting, if somewhat predictable names on these lists, but a few surprises. Bo Davis seems like a possibility, 3 time DL coach on a championship team, 1 LSU , 2 at Bama. Bidding war with Texas over a DL coach? Or maybe House will pick the DL coach opening up for different candidates. but who knows. https://crescentcitysports.com/speculating-options-for-lsus-new-defensive-line-coach/ https://lsutigerswire.usatoday.com/...line-coach-candidates-jamar-cain-brian-kelly/
That's what I worry about the most. Cain wasn't just a good recruiter, but he was an elite recruiter. There is a big difference between a good recruiter and an elite recruiter, so finding another elite recruiter isn't going to be an easy task for CBK.
Kelly shared LSU’s timeline for naming a replacement and indicated that a hire won’t come before the end of spring “We will go through the spring, then put together our thoughts. Do we hire within or go outside? All of our options are on the table,” Kelly said. “This is a position where it’s important we examine all options." Not crazy about waiting until after Spring ball to start looking. (Spring football ends April 22). But his team. Might mean hiring from within. "Right under our nose!"
