Bad Blood if Les Loses and Leaves

Can you imagine how big a grudge LSU fans would have if Les loses to UT on Saturday, then bolts for U of M before the Cotton Bowl, leaving Crowton as interim HC?!

And as the week goes on, I feel that scenario is becoming more and more likely. :sob:

Attagirl, we definitely cannot have a coach who's not a "Hottie". I did let Skip know he'd have to answer to you about it if that did happen.

Still not sold on CLM leaving...however, one name not mentioned in this thread is Del Rio. That would be my #1 choice.

Not just no but HELL NO.

To me, the hiring pattern for the last two coaches seems to be a mid-tier school/program that competes against dominant in state/region rivals with moderate success and second tier talent. All while turning the program around with the hard fought recruits he can win over.

People scoff at Peterson for being young and from a weak conference but on the surface, seems to fit the mold. He also might be the guy that's easiest to get.

As mentioned already, a new HC usually brings in his own staff so more than likely Crowton is out no matter who they go with.

Yeah, from the BCS NC game to the Cotton all within 2 weeks. He'd be better phoning in his resignation from Ann Arbor, like Nick did in Miami.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The Coaches and Coordinators that I want if...

Les Miles gets the Michigan job. Last night while I was drinking, I started thinking about the best case scenario for LSU and I came up with this.

    Head Coach: Steve Spurrier

Yes, he is old and will likely only give us 2-4 years, but...

    Offensive Coordinator: Major Applewhite

Saban brought him in to make him the youngest offensive coordinator in the nation and he did well in his first season under a "defensive" mind. Although, LSU would be a lateral move, don't you think Applewhite would want to study under a great offensive mind? Then if Spurrier leaves, we have a fall back in a young, hungry OC that would be able to immediately come in with little or no changes (although this has backfired on occasion).

    Defensive Coordinator: Jon Tenuta

With Gailey being fired, and Tenuta possibly being passed over for the HC position, I could see him also coming to LSU and planning on taking over for Spurrier if Applewhite isn't ready to take the reigns upon the exit of Spurrier.

    What do you guys think?

I say we give more than one year as a coordinator before we give him any grades.

What about Gary Pinkel from Mizzou? I don't know much about him but it seems like he is doing a pretty good job.

He would merely be a figurehead/understudy with Spurrier...
