1. Izzy, go to youtube.com and type in New Riders of the purple sage / Henry to see what they're about. They're very similar to the grateful dead. Jerry Garcia used to sit in with them often.

    Red, Commander Cody....Oh Yea !!!:thumb:.
  2. Didn't you bring up the 60s group "Big Tuna" a few months back?

I was discussing this thread with a coworker of mine who is a music trivia buff and he brought up the name Big Tuna.

I thought you woulda named that band.
  3. I don't care for the Greatful Dead. Their sound did absolutely nothing for me and the vocals probably less.
  4. HOT Tuna.

Jorma Kaukonen(guitar) and Jack Casady(bass) of Jefferson Airplane were the two main players of this 70's band. They do still play live, but very infrequently, as Jorma now lives in Ohio and Jack lives here.
  5. Better live than on record, no doubt.

I was not a fan per se, but saw the Jerry Garcia Band in August '93 and the Dead two weeks later.

The concert "scene" was an integral part of their live shows, with hippies, and drug sales and consumption were openly celebrated.

Jerry was an incredible live guitarist, depending on which night you saw him.

With his band he was unbelievable, but with the Dead he was flat.
  6. My bad. lol

    Yeah, hot tuna.
  7. Thought you might find the origin of the name "Hot Tuna" interesting:

    :hihi:
  8. That's HOT TUNA.
  9. I've already been corrected, numbnuts.
  10. The Band.

Okay I'm going to go and take a bath and gargle with Listerine for about an hour for posting this name:

    Franky Goes To Hollywood.

Cool name, terrible 80's puke music. A girl I hung out with at LSU loved them.

    EDIT: It gets worse:

    Spandau Ballet

    EDIT 2: "Worser"

    Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Help me please, I need a drink now.
