    ah! finally! FINALLLLLLLY!

The Braves get a closer... Bob Wickman

GREAT move by John, as usual, b/c the man they gave up isn't even touted as a 'top prospect,' and even if he was, McCann is 22, and Jarrod Saltamacchia is considered one of the best prospects in the world, and is also a catcher in the Braves system

well, we've been quiet in this thread...

numerous media outlets have Soriano as a White Sox

Someone as selfish as he is, teaming up with someone as ridiculous as Ozzie Guillen is... that ought to be fun

BoSox jumping all over Zito now. Gonzales hit a solo shot, and Manny went deep for a 3-run homer. Now 4-0 mid 3rd.

Manny and Trot just went back-to-back in Oak.
Note: Manny now sits alone in 27th place on the all-time HR list.

how about the metropolitans possibly finding a pitcher? john maine, a kid from the oriole system that came in the benson trade has now thrown 17 consecutive scoreless innings.

benson was traded for jorge julio who was traded for el duque, and maine.

i liked that trade at the time, and i still like it, benson is a .500 pitcher. not much better than el duque, and maine is looking like a promising young arm.

benson is 100 times better than el duque, but Maine is outstanding... I was impressed...

What's the word on Pedro. What's his pitch count on Friday, buddy?

I know he's not gonna win a ggold glove in this lifetime, but he's the best right-handed hitter of his generation (guys who came-up '90-'95). A-Rod gets the publicity, but numbers don't lie. Manny has fewer career at bats than A-Rod, but more hits, doubles, homers, RBI, higher BA, OBP, SLG%, more total bases. The guy is a hall-of-fame hitter.

Yankees get lucky tonight and come back twice to beat the Rangers. Rangers are only a game and a half out in the West (way out in the WC), but they are in the crappy position of trying to figure out if they are a taker or a giver this trade season. If they become sellers, maybe the Mets can look at one of their pitchers for possibly a good stick??????
