Not sure how much has already been posted. Here's what I thought was interesting. 1. Beckwith out this Saturday and possibly Ole Miss as well. 2. Dorsey was SEC Defensive Player of Week (somehow I missed that) 3. Miles' Players of week: Byrd on Offense, Pittman on Defense, Colt David and RJ Jackson on Special Teams. 4. CLM said among many factors that play into running back selection, practice performance (sharpness, effort) is one of the bigger ones. He seemed to hint that K. Williams had a good practice week, so he played more this week. Does that mean he sometimes doesn't practice well? Dunno. 5. Miles said he wasn't done with the Varsity incident (still investigating), but that RP would practice today. He stopped just short of saying RP was back at #2, but seemed to hint that would be the case. 6. This Sat is CLM's Birthday! 7. CLM said he would play to ensure victory but would not run the score up for style points. C'mon coach, maybe just a little? Please? From my vantage point it was one of his better press conferences. :geaux:
He did seem very much relaxed and in good humor. Maybe he did feel like he was under pressure for the Bama game. Oh well, that's over now! He seemed to relish the questions about how he dealt with all the penalties. Almost in an evil sort of way... it was sort of funny. :miles:
Great to see RJ Jackson getting some love. Running it up for style points isn't necessary. However, ending up with a lopsided result that provides style points should happen through the end of the year.
Surprised that he chose Byrd for offensive player and not Doucet. Byrd had that spectacular catch, but Doucet was making plays all game long and had the game tying TD. Doucet is clutch. Byrd's the man too, though.:geaux:
6 catches for 144 yards as opposed to 5 catches for 67 yards... Seeing that Byrd is a youngster that stepped up in a major way, seems like Miles made the right choice there..he deserved it. Not that Doucet didn't... just rewarding the future of our receiving team (IMHO).
My "Most Improved" Player: Brandon Lafell Flynn keyed on him late in the 4th and he came through. He did drop one pass, but it was a little low out front. But he did come through when it mattered and hopefully this builds his confidence.
