What I like best is we have preseason polls. Then we as fans complain that there shouldn't be a preseason poll, but we rush to see how many of "our teams" are ranked. "Our teams" get justified, the only problem being some are still too low, but everyone else's teams that are ranked only show the stupidity of the media. Then the season plays out, teams jump in, teams fall out, and the polls start to match up with what's happening on the field. And what do we fans do? We go back and "weight" our wins from a poll we didn't want in the first place. It happens every year... in every conference... and makes for good forum fodder.
Come back with that when we're out of BCS contention. And, I'd rather have my head stuck in the sand than where yours is presently situated.
I imagine that you could say this about any football game or team in America at any time of any year. You could even substitute Kentucky instead of LSU in those questions.
The good thing is we had this game already against Alabama and... you got it... we won. That has to say something about your team also. How many other teams would have folded like a napkin in that situation? We didn't and we won.... so :geaux:
Last I checked it makes for more than forum fodder. It counts for part of the BCS formula. We may complain about it pre-season, and rightfully so, but that doesn't stop it from having an impact on the outcome of our season. Like it or not.
He is right that the flaw could be fatal to our hopes. What has me worried is that it is a flaw that has existed for three years now and Miles does not seem able to deal with it. From what I understand, all Miles did Monday was to dish out some "verbal discipline." I just don't think that will be enough. Hayes may be right that it is too late in the year to correct it; it is too in-grained. I hope he is wrong.
Hell, if this has been our fatal flaw for three years I hope it never gets corrected. Seems to be working.
