Correct. Feliepe Franks is not a great QB. He was however put in a position to win. O lost to a far superior Head Coach. Talent can't make O any betta'. Mullen beat him at MooU last year & Florida thus year. Mullen's 1st year at UF. It's not even close. O's a DLIne coach trying to compete with a damn good Offensive Coordinator & Head Coach. The same will happen against Fisher. O might win beat A&M this year, but has already lost the war for years to come.
But, there is a sentinent that O "Rebuilt the OL" with his bloated 3 Star recruits. He went out & got another one of his BBQ baws to coach da' OL. Not a damn thing wrong with Deculus other than poor coaching. If he's at Bama, Georgia or Florida or had Grimes stayed, he'd be a great OL player.
Was boogieing on da bayou didnt have time to put my 2 cents in. No surprise to me. This is about where we are. We were overrated at #5. I underestimated Fla and Mullen thought we were a little better than them. We are as good as Fla simply made too many mistakes and untimely penalties and they didnt. Dropped passes, fumbles and backbreaking drive killing penalties. Game was winnable for us. Florida's football players based on talent are as good as we are, better than us on the OL. They finally have a good coach to lead them. We are 7-5 at worse 9-3 at best. On a given day anyone can get knocked off. Oklahoma went down and Kentucky went down yesterday too. Moo U beat the crap out of Aub. Bama, Ohio State and Georgia are the elite right now. We are a good football team who needs 2 more good to great recruiting classes to be a great team. Just my 2 cents "We comin Go Tigers"
If there aren’t marked improvements next year, can’t blame Miles anymore. I agree with just about everything you said and feel like even with the loss we’re on an upward trajectory. O will have his chance in the coming weeks to prove that wrong/right.
I slept on it and I’m still refusing to give credit to Florida’s players. I’ll give credit that Georgia and Bama have more talent than us but not Florida. We were out coached and out schemed on both sides the ball. Also our guys were playing with virtually zero emotion after the 1st drive. You can have have 5 more recruiting classes full of 5 stars but if you can’t get (and keep) them ready to play against lesser opponents, what difference does it make. These “lulls” were bound to catch up to us. Let’s see how we respond against Georgia.
Injuries, depth, and youth contributed. The swamp is a tough place to win. The refs (smart teams must have a payment system worked out - I was surprised how evenly the AU game was called). I’m still willing to give O the benefit of the doubt.
OK. We were out, got home, turned on TV. First play I saw was the first Gator TD. The first (only) friggin play! So I bailed, but it wasn’t enough. Damn. Haven’t watch “the tape” yet, but I did see Paul F. going on about how we are no different than other Miles’ teams. At this point I think about the best we can hope for is to survive the next several weeks without injury. We are going to win more than seven, but not a lot more. Geaux Tigers!
