I never really thought about it. All I cared about was if he could play LB. I don't care if he is orange, or blue, or whatever.
It's all about managing expectations. When everyone is expecting 1, and you get 2, then there is disappointment, even w/something as subjective as recruiting ratings. If you expect 5, and finish 2, then there is excitement, even though the outcome was the exact same. I'm thrilled w/this class. So we had 2 players not commit that we expected. Are we better off in the long run for some unforseen reason, but disappointed now because it effected our ranking? #1 ESPN is pretty good, I'd say!
Never seen so many issues with coaching stability so close to NSD (Les, Steele, Frank and rumors of Ed O and Grimes) and a class pretty much keep every piece of it together. Blind Luck or hard work or a combination of both, I don't care...we have a great class that filled needs better than we did last year in my opinion.
I watched his highlights and was pleasantly surprised. He was at OT and moved very well. I liked the way he positioned himself to take his man to a particular side. I saw him block an initial man and then transition to a second target several times. He pulled very well, finished blocks, was good in pass protection, etc.. I realize these are highlights and may not be against great competition, but he looked very well rounded.
I know....it's all silly in a way, being so keyed up over the whims of talented but sometimes arrogant teenagers. And as we all know, there will be kids whose names have been featured today who won't make it to campus or through fall practice, kids who will be flops by mid-October, and kids who went unmentioned who will be superstars. You didn't pay much attention to USC.....did you. Helton didn't become official until December and he fired almost all of sardrunkian's staff. We didn't name a D-Coordinator until 3 weeks ago and as of last Friday, we didn't even have a Dline coach named. We limped through the recruiting season. Still, not a bad day.
Me either until I looked him up because I had never heard of him. Then I saw him and it shocked me...in a good way though. Like meeting a white dude named Tyrone. I know one...he goes by Ty, LOL.
