Disagree. Handcuffing the QB to the extent Miles did last night is terrible for Harris and Jennings. He wasn't protecting Harris, he was sending a clear message - I do not trust you. We need to be developing our passing game - 6 passes in the way they happened last night in the second half does not do that. We won't be able to continue to win using this game plan, and you are putting Fournette at risk for injury and a shortened career. This win was about as disappointing as a win can be, which is in direct contrast with the feelings that surfaced in the first quarter. I was afraid it was too good to be true; Miles obliged by shutting down the qb.
1 TD we scored anyway, the other was sprung by a clear hold on Diarse, Diarse doesn't hold, a tackle is made, so you can't count that TD either. And let's be clear, that first TD that was called back by the hold on Boutte, was as pretty a ball I've seen thrown by an LSU qb since 8 was behind center. It was on play action too, and it worked. Auburn got trashed by the zone read all game against Jacksonville State and their secondary was abused too. I'm confident LSU comes away with a victory but I wouldn't be shocked if it again comes down to the last drive again. Luckily it seems Arkansas, Auburn, and South Carolina aren't as advertised. But Ole Miss, and Alabama are, and A&M looks better than they have been. I'm still not confident LSU wins 7 games this year, it was 8 but one of our rent a wins was taken away by Mother Nature.
I think it was more of going with the best weapon on the road with a green quarterback and a stud tailback. I think we will see Harris throw more against Auburn at home. Any coach that does not utilize the best running back in football would be very, very foolish. Harris may be better, but he ain't an All-American and Fournette is.
Utilize is an understatement. Miles trick #1 and #2 is Fournette, more than half the time its his #3 trick as well. Just a little more balance and this wouldn't have been a game.
True. But, to steal LILs analogy, a coach who takes a Ferrari and runs it into a fence time after time and doesn't use the steering wheel IS foolish. He may move forward and ultimately get where he wants to go, but it there are much smarter paths and processes. After 10 years, I'm fairly sure CLM is incapable of frontal lobe processing, or is missing his cognitive center that allows this thought progression.
In the thread last night the complainers were bitching every time Les took him out for a breather. No winning with the sky is already on the ground crowd.
I am pretty sure he is winning football games. Les didn't get 95 yards of penalties that would have made this game quite different.
Wrong. There was 1 person bitching about taking Fournette out. I'm glad he took him out, Williams is just fine spelling Fournette, I'd like to have LF7 in the late part of the season, most of us were complaining that the offense was 1 dimensional, there was no deception, no creativity, and if LSU fans can tell you what play is about to be run, you can bet your ass opposing coaches know.
I wasn't drinking last night and I am pretty sure that it was more than one person. I didn't say you specifically. Maybe you need another 4oz shot this morning.
