I have been saying this all year long, why dont we run Keiland more? 3 carries for 24 yards against Bama and I believe against Auburn, he had a couple of carries for around 20 something yards. I still do not understand why we dont run him more. Im fact, I would not be suprised if he wanted to transfer due to lack of playing time. I know we have a crap load of talented backs, but I believe KW is slightly better than the rest. Against Bama, he runs it for around 18 yards, next play he is not in and MF throws an interception! I question the play calling in this respect.
This is one of the things I still wonder about too. When he's in there, good things happen. Last night his first carry went for 15 yds. Then we don't see him for the next 2 quarters? I hate Miles' musical runningbacks. Hester and KW should get MOST of the carries with Scott and Murphy giving them a rest from time to time. A RB can't get into any kind of rythym in this musical runningback scheme. I know some people here say that KW doesn't see the holes well. That's TOTAL BULLCRAP! Islstl posted 2 weeks ago that he's averaging over 7 yds a carry this year so that opinion is not valid. I think Miles just has too much talent at RB and doesn't know what to do with it. I hope this doesn't bite us in the @ss later in the year. We'll see.
I have not heard the "KW can not see the holes as well" bit. All I know is that most every time he touches the ball, its positive. I believe if we run especially him, JH, and CS more in the Bama and Auburn games, they are not nearly as close.
everytime he touches the ball something good happens. got a long run last night and then twisted and turned to get a first down. he's as good as hester at getting the tough inside yards but he has the speed to hit the homerun like the 60+ yd td run against virginia tech. no clue why he doesn't get the ball more.
much as I like Jacob Hester, I honestly think the coaches are have dropped the ball on this. I completely agree, Keiland needs to be more involved. He is a legitimate weapon when he has an opportunity. I don't see why we couldn't have a set-up with JH and KW both in the game at the same time for a large part of the game...
Up here in N.C. we call him "The Train" cant hardly stop him when he gets his feet moving. I think he being put on the sidelines way to often. Hester is a "Hokie Gajan" made all over again, but Williams is the most underused player on the team :LSU231:
Not even close, in fact that's Keiland's biggest weakness. He's running well in space but tends to pull up some when he anticipates the hit is coming- Hester lowers his head and plows over defenders, sometimes more than one on a play. I was big on KW too- since last year; however, I have to say I think the coaches are using him about like he needs to be. Pay attn. to the calls he gets the ball on and you'll see too. Watch him on kick returns when he gets into traffic. He has a lot of upside and is speedy, just not a power back like JH- Scott will assume that role next year, handily, imo.
Earlier in the season, it was clear that KW was not running with a lot of urgency and he didn't seem to hit holes as they developed. Against Bama, he showed the flashes of burst that have us all foaming at the mouth for more touches. I hope this trend continues.
And the only time Keiland gets the ball is on option pitches and everytime he catches it behind the line of scrimmage and it doesn't look good but he bursts through and gets big yardage usually. He's a dangerous weapon, it's no coincidence that LSU was playing its best football last year when Keiland was running the ball very good. But then again, more carries for him means less carries for everyone else and that's hard to do when everyone is running the ball so friggin well. Matt Flynn is the only person out of 11 who have run the ball this year with a yard/carry lower than 4.5. Keiland and Charles Scott are very similarly built RB's and there stats are basically the same too.
