Bamer fans can maybe speak honestly about this (but I doubt it), but anyway.

Alabama is an "odd-numbered" team like LSU, meaning their schedule softens in the odd-numbered years like 03, 05, 07

To prove this, let's look at Alabama's records:

    2004: 6-6

    2005: 10-2

    2006: 6-7

2007: So Far: (6-3) possibly about to be 6-4.

Does that look fishy to anyone other than me?

With Ark, Georgia, Tennessee, and LSU all in Gumpville, I think Lil Nicky's season has been a tad overrated, considering the last time the Bammers had a home-heavy schedule in 2005, Shula had them 9-0 going into the LSU game.

Let's not forget they're a couple of seconds away from being a 4-5 team right now....Houston and Arky

I don't think he's doing a bad job, I don't think he's doing a particularly good job either. He appears to be doing an average job at what a good coach should be doing, just like he did here his first season. Bama's talent is average for the SEC. Shula was apparently soft on the team, they were not in good shape and they quit at times. saban has them in better shape and they play hard the whole game, and are learning new offense and defense. My boss's boss is a Bama grad, and he's happy (I'm happy we beat them!). The guy is happy they are better coached than they were.

Was the result saban delivered worth $4M a year? That, I don't believe.

I'd say he doing the best he can with the talent he has. You can't really judge him based off how this season is going. But i see he's back to his old ways, losing to teams he's supposed to beat.

It's not as if Bama doesn't have talent. Their last four recruiting class rankings per rivals...
    10,11,18,15

Conversely, Miss St had zero top 25 recruiting classes during those same years. Nor did Houston and Arkansas outside of 05' (two teams Bama struggled to beat). Don't let the Bama fans lie to you, Bama has talent.

I don't know about Saban...but I do know that whoever the QB coach is...I'd assume Applewhite...isn't doing a good job at all! That was absolutely the worst series I've ever seen by an experienced QB. Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson looks like a deer in headlights right about now...probably still having nightmares of #30, and now #3, coming at him.:hihi: He's awful!

I guess it's because he doesn't have any experienced talent at WR to work with, right?? (Caddell, DJ Hall)

Well all their losses have been close ones, with two of them to better teams. That loss to FSU was inexplicable. Saban is doing a good job this year, but you won't begin to see the results of him til at least next year when he implements his system and the players get more mature.

by 100 or by 10, a loss is a loss...

some of their wins have been close to.

point being that those types of things level out as the season goes along.

you win 1-2 you don't deserve to win and you lose 1-2 that you don't deserve to lose.

edit: Shula was rarely blown out, too.

Save it...he's getting ready to lose to a team that we beat by 45...and we didn't think we did all that well. Saban's gonna get CROOMED!!
