Both posts by @onceanlsufan and @Kikicaca are accurate but they have perverted the concepts in those statements. Washington warning was more about what the Republicans have become than anything.
Franklin and the other founding fathers saw what happened in Rome after Cesar and contemporaneously in France during the revolution. Trump has/is attempting to destroy the republic
