We occasionally get Whitlock's column in our local paper. I don't always agree with him and race is often mentioned in his work. Having said that, the guy is a damned fine writer and he nailed this one.
Great article. I loved the part about the difference between a great NFL coach and a great college coach. And also LOVED when he wrote about college coaches seeing beyond a recruit's current state and devepment of players, and pointed out that ND had a couple of good years because of Willingham developed an experienced and talented team, and that what ND is now is a result of Weis's lack of development. I am also glad that Whitlock pointed out the bias and lazyness of the media. The media that treats CLM like an idiot, but annointed Weis as a genius. Thanks, I think I'd rather keep the idiot.
Anybody remember last year when he kept BBQ and the rest of the starters in for basically the entire game on the service academy blow-outs to pad his numbers instead of letting the back-ups get experience? Reap what you sow, "Charlie the Hutt". PS: I hope he stays there for the full contract.
