Smidgen? What you are seeing this year is a QB and WR's with a lot more than a "smidgen" of experience and a "smidgen" of coaching than they had last year. Experience is word for a reason it means something or the word would not exist in the English language, sorry.
Right back at it without skipping a beat huh guys? LOL Anyway, one thing is certain... if we keep running an offense like this, hopefully more 5 star QBs get interested in coming here.
My concern is development of QBs. I think the jury is still out on this. Mett and Burrow who have been our better ones of late were both developed elsewhere before they came to LSU. I guess we will see when Myles takes over next year. Hopefully things are good, but the proof is in the pudding as they say
Burrow already had all the tools, the football instincts and the work ethic. Brady helped greatly in refining those skills and helping Burrow to realize he could do some things that he had never considered. Hence the great start and Heisman like stats. Even though it was only Northwestern State in a garbage time role it was encouraging to see Brennan go 8 for 9 and make all the right on field decisions. Maybe by next season he will exhibit the same polish as Burrow. The new offense iz bound to attract a few 5 star QB recruits. As long as Joe Brady is around we should expect great QB play. Brady is on the fast track to head coach somewhere, especially with the NFL's recent infatuation with bright young coaches, .je McVay, Klingsbury. To keep him around he needz to be promoted to OC next season with the appropriate bump in salary. Last night on the coaches radio show Oeaux said the Tigers were essentially running the Saints offense with Burrow in the Drew Brees role. That's pretty high praise.
NEXT YEAR ... THE DIRTY DOZEN Brady pudding with 12 cherries on top Assuming no redshirts/injury next year looks: 1. WR 02 Justin Jefferson 6-2, 192, SR Jefferson (coming back as senior ... mark it) 2. WR 06 Terrace Marshall, Jr. 6-4, 200, JR 3. WR 01 Ja’Marr Chase 6-1, 200, JR 4. WR 17 Racey McMath 6-3, 221, SR 5. WR 13 Jontré Kirklin 6-0, 185, SR 6. WR/ST 33 Trey Palmer 6-1, 180, SO 7. WR 05 Davonta Lee 6-1. 223, SO 8. WR 83 Jaray Jenkins 6-4, 195, FR 9. WR Jermaine Burton (2020 signee) 10. WR Koy Moore (2020 signee) 11. Kayshon Boutte (2020 signee) 12. Rakim Jarrett (2020 signee) What will Uncle Nicky do in Tiger Stadium next November ... We platoon 5 wideouts every other first down or 4 plays and drive Saban insane scoring with a well seasoned and more-than-ready and more-than-loyal to LSU and more-than-patient Myles Brennan ... Saban gets a back-to-back ass whacking courtesy of BRADY PUDDIN
Yes, that does concern me as well. I'm hoping Brady has a lot more influence in this area. If I'm being honest, I'm not really sure about Myles. I did see a helluva pass from him last week, albeit off target a bit. I think Myles' biggest challenge will be decision-making / quick-thinking, and possibly accuracy. I hope I have to eat crow later for saying that! lol
