the only reason its foolish to speak of retiring dorsey's number is that he's only a 2 year starter. you'd have to establish quite a resume' before you can do that. at least 3 years of stellar play. of course he got a lot of reps as a sophomore since we rotated the defensive line almost every other play. the talent on that dline the last 3-4 years has been absolutely ridiculous. thats the hardest position to maintain but the best way to win championships. dorsey is different than the rest because he is so damned explosive/fast for a DT. usually a 320 lb guy has trouble getting out of the blocks but not him. he comes out like a sprinter and will still overpower you. I agree with red that marshall has to be ahead of dorsey but not because of what he did in the pros. Just because he played longer. henry thomas is right there too. edit: also, about 4 weeks ago I forgot what announcer was calling out dorsey saying that his only problem was he needed to get in shape. then later the dude is doing jumping jacks in the 4th quarter because he cant sit still. I knew he was full of it when i heard it. I dont think Ive seen dorsey too tired to make a play. was probably danielson.
