The greatest DT I EVER saw play was Randy "The Manster" White and Dorsey plays alot like him.

I was thinking about making a thread on this very topic. A friend and I were talking about if Dorsey is best best DT in the recent greats that have wore the Tiger uniform. He prefers Booger, but I think Dorsey is the best of the bunch. He is the most well rounded DT, he plays the run and pass equally well. Very seldom does a DT get nearly as many tackles as Dorsey, thats what seperates him IMO. Id rank him over Marshall as a college player. The NFL is totally different. Cant go wrong with any of them.

    1 Dorsey
    2 Marshall
    3 Booger

Duhe was a tackle at LSU, one of the first really quick linemen we had. In the NFL, Arnsparger made him into a linebacker because of his speed, but he would roam behind the line and often drop down on the line as a nose tackle or end because he had the size and strength of a lineman. It really kept the QB guessing.

Arnsparger was a HELL of an NFL defensive coordinator.

You can't leave Henry Thomas off that list.
Brooks was a linebacker in a 3-4 defense, if I remember correctly. He rushed the passer a lot.

The retiring of the jersey is just kind of silly talk.

I recall Dorsey being an impact guy three years ago, when he came in as a substitute. I was a huge fan of him then, as he brought so much explosive speed for his size, even early in his career.

    Agree completely.

Ronnie Estay was a great one that a lot of you young guys may have never heard of. Small by todays standards but was an All American on what may be the best LSU rushing defense ever. That 1969 team only gave up 389 yards rushing for the season.

Lavalais probably had one the greatest season's in 2003 as a DT but can't be considered the greatest based on one season alone. Dorsey will probably the most remembered, at least for me. The amount of double teams he draws up and openings for other D-linemen speaks for itself. I loved when Wroten and Williams were together for one or two seasons, they absolutely dominated the 2005 Alabama game.

I've seen a bunch of good ones, and Dorsey is the best I can recall, so I voted him the best. Marshall and Thomas are up there for sure.
