So I'm reading Dandy Don, and he believes Dorsey is "the best defensive tackle to ever wear purple and gold." He even suggests LSU should retire 72 when he leaves. I'm having a hard time disagreeing with him.

someone older than me can help me out but it seems LSU has had better DE's than dt's historically.

some great dt's were lavalais, kyle williams, wroten, didn't we have henry thomas in the 80's?

was michael brooks an end or dt?

i guess i'm showing my lack of age.

anyway according to afca.com LSU's never had an all american dt before.

Tough to say considering he as really only played two seasons. Who knows, but I think the retiring the jersey idea is a little over the top.

Booger! Booger was awesome. He didn't have much help back then, either.

I'm pretty sure Lavalais was not only an all-american but also the defensive lineman award winner.

I don't know. Dorsey didn't start until All Americans Wroten and Williams graduated. Chad Lavalais was a monster tackle recently, too. Earlier tiger tackles like Sid Fournet, A.J. Duhe, and Ramsey Dardar can't be forgotton.

I think I'd put Dorsey 2nd behind Leonard Marshall, right now. If Dorsey makes it as well in the NFL as Marshall did (11 years, 4 pro-bowls, super bowl champion, etc), then I might move him up.

I always thought A. J. Dudhe was a linebacker. Shows how bad my memory is.

    Linebacker

I would put McFarland up there as well, but for overall impact to the game and the fans in general? I have never seen anyone like Dorsey.
