i agree entirely. compare his runs scored, rbi, HR, and sb with leadoff/ss jose reyes and the difference is massive. i think hyper-aggressive swinger reyes even has a higher obp than eckstein. plus the little white guy's range has to be terrible. he wouldnt play on my team.

the sprinting to first is absolutely asinine. its a is a walk, a dead ball, no hurry you stupid prick.

the thing we got to keep hearing is that he has made the most out of having little abilities on the field. yeah, he has very little talent. lets just leave it at that, why don't we?

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that he so much resembles the kid that shouldn't have made it to the show, but he just kept working, got his shot, and is a consistent producer. Plus he plays hurt, never bitches, and has an all american kid kinda presence in a game that has been somwhat tainted by performance enhancing drugs and money.

You mean Eck isn't on roids?:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

I think if MLB had an exception list to those that could take roids without penalty, Eckstein would be at the very top.

The albino midget had a great game, it's true. But all the attention lavished on him kind of proves my earlier point. Why is it such a big deal that he had a great game? He's the starting SS and leadoff hitter, right?

If Albert Pujols hits two HRs and a double, but in the same game 'Lil Davey Eckstein lays down a nice bunt and just hustles his undersized heart out, who do you think morons like Tim McCarver and John Kruk are going to be gushing about? (Hint: It's not Pujols).

In the 2002 World Series, Eck won the Babe Ruth award -- given to the best player of the Series. Here are some numbers:

    (Taken from the website firejoemorgan.com)

If you look at the 2002 World Series you'll find:

    Troy Glaus: .385/.467/.846, 3 HR, 3 2B
    Tim Salmon: .346/.452/.615, 2 HR
    Bengie Molina: .286/.375/.381
    Darin Erstad: .300/.312/.500
David Eckstein: .310/.364/.310 (that's right, zero XBH)

    And, for good measure:

Barry Bonds: .471/.700/1.294, 4 HR, 2 2B, 13 BB (it may be cheesy, but those are beyond even video-game numbers)
    J.T. Snow: .407/.448/.556, 1 HR
    Jeff Kent: .276/.290/.621, 3 HR

Not only was David Eckstein wholly undeserving of an award that should have gone to Bonds (or at least Glaus), he was one of the very worst players on either team during the entire series.
