Saints needed to invest in the O-line and get the best center in free agency vs getting Byrd. This O-line just isn't good enough.
Totally agree with this. Even with the victory, I feel much worse about the Saints chances going forward. They play 10 straight opponents that will vie for a playoff spot. Then Tampa on the road, so that's not a layup either (far from it, in fact). This team could end up 5-11.
Funny, I actually think the D-line is the problem. Save for Gallete's safety, we were never able to really pressure Glennon except when we blitzed. The front 4 was supposed to be one of the team's strength's. I'm glad we won today and all and I hope I'm wrong when I say this (I'll gladly eat crow if I am), but Drew's better days are behind him. 3 times the Saints receivers beat the Bucs DBs down field and each time the ball was underthrown. Not only that, but he's thrown at least one pick in every game so far this year. We have a solid running attack. Let them carry the team and let Brees beat the opposing D on play action or dink/dunks down the field. He doesn't have to force throws. I'm glad there's a bye week next Sunday. We had a ton of injuries today.
