I agree. I can't, for the life of me, understand how some of us (And good people/posters here) can't be a little more open minded with rival posters who bring factual data to the argument- in fact, I believe that's the problem, maybe a little jealousy/intimidation cause they know their stuff and argue their positions. I didn't even know what the stupid "Gump" reference was to until a few months back and, in fact, Terry is the one who told me......seriously. We were pming each other and it came up so I asked him. Our forum gets too many compliments about being distinguished for having class and even though we can all slip sometimes, it's become an indoor sport for some.
gee red, take some metamucil or something. "gump" is an accepted and apt term when referring to bama fans. i don't think it hurts their feelings....sort of like xerox when describing copiers or coke when describing soft drinks. let's just have a big 'ol collective group hug....feel better?
You know what the question was. You just didn't want to answer. No I didn't sing, but I was glad we won. I was also proud of the way the Tigers pulled out another win. :geaux:
I'll mix an "or something" as soon as I get home. I think they prefer "Confederate Americans". :hihi:
FWIW, the "gump" thing doesn't bother me. I happen to be of the persuasion that using terms like "gump, corndogs, barners, viles" etc. is just one of those 'net things with sports forums. Heck, I know of a few forums that don't allow members to use any terms like those when talking about rivals. (Hell, you have a portion of your own fan base that calls your coach "Lesticles.") I do have to admit most 'net posters who use terms like that aren't adding anything to solid discussions...just trying to get a little jab in. What purpose it serves I couldn't tell you. I will admit I have this mental picture of someone sitting behind a keyboard giggling about what they just posted...sort of like the character from Office Space, Milton Waddams, posting on sports forums.
At the time Croom was coaching on a pro team. I wouldn't expect him to have all of those answers at the time of an interview. Do you think Saban had to answer those questions before he was hired? They may as well hae asked Sly what the population of Greater Fon du Lac, Wisconsin was. He is black and he wasn't getting the job. Period. And that's why he's bitter toward his alma mater.
fwiw, as far as i'm concerned, i don't mean anything deragatory. it truly is all in fun. i enjoy reading and contemplating the different prespective rival posters provide, however wrong they may be . you're ok terry p....for a gump :yelwink2:
At the time of the interview was just before the summer started. The season was long over in the NFL. Yes, I think Saban would have had answers to those questions if he was in the same situation. But, he didn't have anything to prove on how he would run a college program as the HC. Croom had only served as an asst. He didn't get the job because he screwed up the interview. To say or think otherwise is your choice but you'd be wrong. Tell me. IF you were interviewing anyone for a position in your line of work and you asked them a question about how they would handle their job responsibilities and they didn't have an answer would you hire them?
