Name me a school in the SEC that hired a coach in the last 20 years that has interviewed a black coach. bama's interview was a sham. MSU did not have a lot of options. They pretty much had to hire Croom, he was the best man they could hire. MSU just happened to get a good coach out of it.
I am like you and believe it will happen, but I am not naive enough to believe it will happen next year. bama at least interviewed Croom, sham or not it was a first step in a process. Change does not come easy. Ole school boys are in control at a lot of schools not just bama. Yes you are right, it will happen, just like recruiting black players happened. It will happen when a Black coach is needed to win. Just like recruiting black players, it was needed to keep up.:geaux:
Is anyone here a Ravens fan? Just curious if any of yall knew what kind of success and esteem Ozzie Newsome is held in as the GM there. His name has been tossed around as to be the replacement for our AD Mal Moore when he steps down in a year or two. And to make it relevant to this subject he's black. What kind of media reaction would be caused for Alabama to hire a black AD? Also would he be the first black AD in the SEC?
I think his rep is pretty good. I have no clue why though. That D was pretty stout already before he was there, and they have not really brought in anyone to hel the offense. Yeah, they got McGahee, but if McNair and Boeller are the answer, I don't want to hear the question. Plus, the D is starting to get old, as he hasn't really done anything personell wise to make them much younger.
What about the way he handles the running of the organization that kind of thing? Because those problems you pointed out wouldn't be his responsibility as a college AD.
I haven't heard anything really negative about him, so I'd say he's better than Isaiha Thomas. :hihi: Actually, from what I've heard, he's well respected in the industry. I don't think he's made any real blunders finacially (got both bad QB's fairly cheap), and I never hear of Balt. having cap trouble. You may want to browse over to a Ravens board and try to sniff out a little info on him. I wouldn't go over as a Bama fan asking about a potential AD though. Attempt to disguise yourself a little.
Well this is all completely speculation because Moore has made no comment about retiring and i believe Newsome has a daughter who is a junior in high school so he probably would be reluctant to move her at this point.
I'm sure he said that..:rolleye33: maybe JPW isn't mobile, but Star Jackson is...He and Julio have been seen in the stands together having a good ol time. Face it primo, he's Bama bound...
