Honestly, I don't see this. LSU has better depth, but as for starters I'd say it's fairly even with only a slight edge to LSU. Interesting how people are supposed to ignore why these players were "missing".
I agree that this team is better conditioned & disciplined. I don't see substantially less talent or experience. The highest drafted guy off of the 05 defense was a 3rd rounder to the Saints, Harper, if I remember correctly.
I thought this discussion was about football. Doesn't matter why they were missing or why RP was missing. Missing is missing. I can't believe you were at the game and saw the obvious difference in size on the field. If you weren't, then go down your roster and go down ours and compare. For god's sake, we have a converted WR playing OLB. Have you ever heard of that before? This is a pointless discussion until you look at the rosters. We have you on WRs. We are equal on corners. You dominate in every other position.
I just don't like how Bama fans say the reason they've struggled is probation while completely ignoring that part of why they were so good for so long was what got them on probation. And this textbook scandal is more of the same. Many of Saban's best players at LSU were converted from other positions. On the field, I could only see a slight talent advantage for LSU with starters, but our depth helps us win games in the 4th quarter.
Where on our team do you see talent equivalent to LSU's? I'd love to know. Not really. Demeco Ryans was Houston Texans second round pick and was defensive rookie of the year. He was a great college player and is turning out to be a great NFL linebacker.
Here's a position breakdown of Bama v LSU an LSU slanted article. http://lsubeat.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071103/SPORTS0202/711030343 Advantage LSU: 5 Advantage Bama: 1 The only big advantage I see in talent is LB/DLine.
