I dunno, but the ones that he won those SECCG's and the :crystal: were there when he got here...did he win with Dinardo's players? You bet he did! Has Miles won with Saban's players? You know he has. subUrban Meyer won with Zook's players. Yada, yada, yada. Check the NFL for LSU players, and many of them were originally recruited to LSU by Dinardo. Dinardo wasn't a great coach, so he didn't do all that well...especially when he couldn't/wouldn't make tough decisions concerning his pitiful staff. Miles has coached these players, and recruiting hasn't dropped off a bit. Miles has gotten the coordinators and assistant coaches in large part on his own, and has done a great job of that. Miles is our coach. I don't know if I speak for anyone else on this forum, but as for me...I am an LSU TIGER fan...no matter WHO the coach is, or who recruited the players that we now have. :geauxtige
Flawed logic? Maybe. The closest example is Spurrier in South Carolina. Very successful in the SEC, comes back to find that his innovations have been adopted, recruiting is much harder and now he struggles to win games. We seem to have JPW's number too...14-40 234 yards??? As long as he's QBing the Tide you can't expect to win more than 8 games a year. All of this talk about the "positives" of staying close to LSU with less talent masks the incredible fortune of having those lame duck underthrown passes caught. Plus, our over-aggression (penalties) kept you in the game. So what is there to celebrate in Tide land? The moral victory of staying close to N.C. contender or the soon-to-be-extended Liberty Bowl invitation you'll be getting?
At any stretch in his stint at LSU was Saban ever 30-5 with his own players. I'm not sure, but I doubt it. Seems to me that Miles is winning more with Saban's players than Saban ever did. If Miles can coach top 5 talent recruited by Saban to top 5 finishes why would he not be able to coach his own top 5 classes to top 5 finishes?
